Dude that's the whole point of gravity in general. The problem in this case is that even if you consider that this sword weighs about 200 kg (The Dragonslayer weighs around 250 kg and is about 180 cm long), even reducing its own weight by 15 times, It would still be about seven times heavier than any sword we have had throughout history (Zweihandër, Espadão, etc). Now, imagine having to carry at least 13 kg at all times... If his magical capabilities are so high, it is much simpler and more efficient to increase the gravity of an area for an instant. 15x is enough to collapse the entire internal structure of any multicellular living being, with the exception of common insects, perhaps.

I don't know what your understanding of gravity is, but if gravitational magic could be applied so easily, then there wouldn't be a living being who could stand up to the MC for the rest of the story.

the general is 3 m tall and the sword is as big as he is. How do you expect him to be able to properly handle something like that? For reference, Dragonslayer from Berserk is approximately 6'4".
