Sophie thought she would get a happy ending. After dozens of years of living like a servant in her aunt's house, Sophie received the surprise that she was a princess. His brother became crown prince and he lived a luxurious life like royalty in the palace. Sophie now has the courage to pursue her dream of becoming a professional perfumer and have a career in the capital.
But a contract by the king has trapped her in an engagement with Duke Thaddeus. Sophie was now his, his property and the Duke did not hold back in taking advantage of her.
When everyone in the Anatoille kingdom thought the Duke was a perfect gentleman and called them a beautiful couple, Sophie accepted it with bitterness in her heart.
because Thaddeus behind the scenes is a cruel man, a master manipulator and does not hesitate to do anything for his goals, including attempting to murder Sophie's older brother.
For him, Sophie was more useful as a pawn than as his duchess.

"Let me go to university," said Sophie tensely. She failed to hide her expectant face.
"I will get an official title as a perfume expert and have a name in the capital. You can be my exclusive sponsor," Sophie offered again.
"Not a bad idea, princess," Thaddeus smiled, a little sarcastically.
"Are you serious about enrolling in university? Your highness, you should start living at my house next month," he continued.
"I want, at least before I get married, I have a degree and a career, it's all also for the benefit of Caleigh's family," said Sophie again. She felt, maybe Thaddeus wasn't as bad as she imagined. Maybe, Thaddeus could even give her the facilities she dreamed of.
"Then beg," said Thaddeus with a calm expression as he smiled at her.
"Huh?"
"I need to get you back on your feet, your highness. You may think too highly of yourself. Do you want to become a professional perfumer? Ok, but I want to remind you of your position again,"
"You are facing your future husband, a duke. So beg, beg me until you realize your worth and remember that your life is mine," said Thaddeus which immediately caused feelings of frustration in Sophie's heart.
