Yes, it adds context and world building, but it also reminds of us of the things he did were never truly good as he had condemned billions to death. Snippets of the past shows us that adam should be responsible for the things he did.

I think adding some 40K characters would make the story more interesting since blitzing through a story is a bit predictable and boring.
