So casting a spell to summon gemstones for someone in a remote village who has never heard of a diamond before, would be just as a hard as someone who is intimately familiar with their current market price.

So why is it determined by market value? And who's market? Like the humble banana. In desert regions, with shipping and transport can be quite a bit more expensive than regions where everyone and their neighbor has a banana tree in their backyard. And with things like gemstones, diamonds have a use with how hard they are but other gems are essentially just shiny rocks.
