I mean, both Asura and Hashirama could use Wood Release naturally, so it's probably an inheritance for all Asura reincarnates. Makes sense since Hashirama's powers basically come from the God Tree, and Asura inherited the vitality of the God Tree and Wood Release, while Indra inherited the Sharingan (which is a lesser form of the Rinnegan, which in turn is associated with the God Tree).

Hashirama's Wood Release probably had passive Chakra-Absorption, like a lesser form of Preta Path.
