Well, not ENTIRELY his fault, but he probably thinks that he shouldn't have withheld the information about the bugged earrings from her. Not that that would've changed anything. She would've likely had the same reaction, going to her boyfriend and confronting him, then the same thing would've happened except that he would've kidnapped her a day earlier an no one would've been the wiser until the next day.
