It's naturally normal to get sad for everything that is normal. A tree dying because it's lifespan is about to end, or it's purpose is complete. That's normal, everything that we lost is without no meaning to it, that may be their purpose, their glory, and their beauty. As qouted, every journey has an end, but don't be saddened by it, because it just mean that a new journey is abound to begin.

In a state of concious and subconciousness where he's living only by instict of eat when hungry in an absolute darkness, it's by no far you can't say that he's susceptible of his stay in that place, maybe he's there for 5 year's atleast or 10 years max that he looks like a teenager, we don't know, but its possible. So eating a fruit that could give you sustaining nutrients for a year unknowingly and by instict is like forever already but he's unable to comprehend that because he's in a state of conciousess and unconciousness.
