the amount of crimes against and from foreigners within the span of every mayor sports event is not caused by any hidden agendas of the fans/players either. it's the unfortunately natural consequence of any kind of we/them differentiation. and if you know anything about the publishing prozess in china, you know that this nationalism does not come per chance, and neither from sporting spirit. there are many articles about that to be found online, though none of which are very helpful in increasing you mood. so, if these competitions have bad implications and no sportsmanship involved, i feel at peace with my allegations.
