I think that different books can allow for naive and righteous or edgy and dark, like mha needs it's happy style and most of the gritty fanfics tend to warp it poorly unless they're completely redesigned and the same goes for darker novels feeling empty if everyone turns out happy and alive in the end. For marvel I particularly like the type of setting where every few chapters you bump into someone new the reader can recognize, and its more about the MC's interactions and the little buzz the reader gets from recognizing a charachter Like in the detective system in marvel although this fiction won't be as expansive or having characters outside marvel likely.

I'm not very fast with updates so I'll answer in advance, he's a research subject of S.H.I.E.L.D so he will naturally be a lab rat for several years till he can be trained as an asset and basically treated as property of shield till after captain marvel when fury takes over and finds out about him after looking into project pegasus. Basically he won't be a hero, antihero, or edgy guy, instead he'll be more of a tragic charachter forced into an extraordinary yet ordinary 9 to 5 job
