Confounded mind.

Anna sat at the desk of the new office she owned now, and pondered over how her life had changed for all that mattered. It’s already been five months since she was divorced and yet her mind still seems to battle its way in convincing her that everything happened to be for the best. But in vain it was not working. She was heartbroken surely. And she couldn’t think straight. She felt as if a piece of her life was missing. But today, some of luck had been working out well. For instance, that unexpected promotion hits the bull’s eyes! At least she now knows that she had something going on in her life, something that would make her forget about her pain. But deep inside her she knew that she was not just trying to escape from her divorce but another past as well that keeps haunting her more than ever. A past that seems still fresh as paint in her troubled mind. Something she hoped she would never go through again. The encounter she had last week….

“Someone looks cozy.” Miranda, the food and beverage coordinator walked into the office. Her small face looked quite tired, as if she had been staying up all night long, drinking coffee. On second thoughts, maybe this was actually her natural look. “I know how you must be feeling, believe me I felt the same when I first stepped into my office and my mind been humming about it all the time.”

“Sure you did. Let me guess, important emails and you stayed up to answer them?”

“You got that right. Believe me, it might be comfy to be in your private office but it does comes with a pain in the ass. Like you have to be responsible of all the petty things that are connected to it.”

“But I think it should be fine. At least that would help me to stop thinking about a certain things I really wished I would forget.”

“Oh yes, things like last week?”

“Thanks for reminding me that I was trying to forget about that;”

“Its not that bad, I mean you did had a real time by yourself, all that you needed, remember?”

“Why I’m having a feeling of regret right now?”

“Maybe because you used that chance for your own good. A bit selfish but cool.” She confirmed. “It gives you a little outlaw style.”

“Really? How is that?”

“Well, to be fair what you did, normally was something a guy would do to a girl. But in this case!”

“Ok, now I get your point.” She took a longer breath and nervously bit her lips. “I better move on now I guess. I mean it’s not like I’ll have to come up with any excuses or anything, for I know I’m never going to see him again.”

“Life can always surprise you, you never know!” she handed the paper she had in her hand, “It’s a print out of an email, you have an interview with Mr Velvac grandson, this afternoon. As you don’t have an official email ID yet, he sent it to me.”

Ah, Mr Velvac, the founder of the Surf Enterprises. As well as she remembered him, he was an old man, sometime walks with a walking stick, grey moustache shaved head. Pale blue eyes, and a wrinkle face. And yet he was as friendly to every staff members. It was so easy to open up to him about something.

“Why the grandson?” Anna questioned.

“Words on the streets that Mr. Velvac is too old to handle business now, so he is handing over to his grandson, who is just back from the US, after completing his courses in management. So it seems like a golden chance for him to get started with the small business first.” she explained.

“Golden chance for him, I don’t even know if he is as smooth going as Mr.Velvac. What if I screw up?”

“You won’t. You are great in that field. And it will be just a bunch of stupid questions, that’s all. And besides you don’t need to worry about him, because as far as Stella told me, he is damn hot. And he is quite the charmer when it comes to talking to a girl.”

“And how does she knows all these?”

“He was at the head office for a few days, taking over the paper work and meeting the staff members there. Learning a bit about the golden rules and our policies.”

“I guess I have nothing to worry about then.”
