Chapter 12 The last room..

Eva was very happy because two good things happened to her. One is, she was able to teach a lesson to Jenny as an act of revenge for  Era, and the second one is, she was able to talk to Ben without hesitation.

She went to the on-call room with her coke and cake. When she entered the room some more interns were waiting for her, the moment she saw them she escaped quickly to avoid their questions.

They kept calling her, but she walked faster and almost started running, he shouted

" David sir is calling I need to go "...

While running she again bumped into Ben and almost fell, he hold her hand and said

" you always need me...",

" no...I always fall because of you" she replied casually.

." I like you talking to me like that..." he said,

Eva controlled herself not to talk and left. Ben was completely into her now.

Eva kept hitting her head saying 'don't get distracted... don't get distracted...Eva your life is already filled with so many mysteries....so please don't get distracted '. 

She was wondering where to go and remembered that there is an empty room in the VIP ICU, where only authorized people can enter, others are not allowed, so, there won't be any disturbance, so she decided to go there.

As she was an assistant to the chief doctor in charge, she had the authority to enter. Eva silently went there.

While going she saw that the doors of the last room of the ward were open, it was the room where David sir used to go alone, she wondered who could be in, so she decided to peep through the door once just to see who was in.

But before she could do that a nurse came out from there and closed the door. Eva asked her if she wants to check the patient inside but the nurse refused to say that it was a restricted room only she and David sir can enter, she also said that she can call him if Eva insists on going in for permission.

Eva didn't want that unnecessary trouble so she said     

" no that's fine I think David sir had already checked in there"

and left.

She calmly entered the room that she was thinking about and sat there to relax for a while relax now she took her diary and wrote everything on it mentioning Ben and Jenny almost everything on it for Era, and wore the coat.

Era was shocked to find herself in the VIP world but she understood everything when she read the letter written by Eva.

She wrote another letter to Eva asking for sorry as to how she was unable to write everything after the surgery. Her phone rang and David sir asked her to come to the office, Era thought ' I think it's better for both of us if I handle David sir because Eva will only cause trouble for herself ' thinking that she went to his office, he was sitting on his chair with another case file in his hands,

" did you have your lunch," he asked,

"yes ...I think.."

Era said confusingly as don't remember having lunch, but she felt full and she threw the wrapper of cake and the tin of coke just now, so she thought Eva might have eaten,

" what !!"

he said surprisingly.

" uh... yes sir I had my lunch"

she said.

He kept the file before her and asked

"what do you think of this case ?'' She took the file and started reading it.

It took her a while to read every detail,

" sir it is the case of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). It's a very complicated surgery"

she said excitedly.

" So what do you think of it...can we give it a try? ''

he asked.

She was so excited and said,

"Sure sir, if it could give the patient hope of living we must take a chance."

Her excitement and interest remind him about Era. He asked her to prepare materials. He just wanted to see if she could prepare the right material.

She went to the shelf and took exactly the right books for reference. He was impressed; he never thought that she would pick the right books.

He said,

" Bring them here, let me help you with pointing out the main points that may be needed ".

Era brought the books to him. He took all the books and started reading them one by one. He pointed out the main points from the first book and asked Era to take a note, she stood beside him and started taking the notes.

When she bent forward, her hair was falling on the book. She was annoyed. She took a pencil from the pencil stand and tied her hair and pierced the pencil inside the hair bun.

He was really surprised to see her doing that because it was Era who did that, he thought that how could two people have so many similarities between them.

But the fact is that she wasn't Eva but was Era. He saw her taking down the notes, she was standing beside him, very near.

He suddenly felt his heart racing, so he pushed his chair back and said

"I need some air, I'll be back…you can carry on with your notes."

He stepped out for a while, then went to the canteen and had a coffee.

When he was sitting there alone Jenny saw him and came near him to accompany him. She needed a chance to start the talk so she asked

"hi sir how is the patient you just operated on, is he doing good"

" yes he is fine"

he said,

"I like working with you sir, is there any other case you are picking? If so, can I scrub in? "

She asked him. He said,

" I already have someone to assist, maybe some other time."

He replied, grabbing his coffee, and left the canteen. She was so unhappy with his response. She thought ' it was Era before and came another one, Eva to make things difficult.

She was continuously trying to get closer to him for the last three years, but the more she tried the more he kept his distance.

 David always doubted that Jenny has some things to do with Era's missing. So he was never on good terms with her.

He tried his best to find out, but couldn't do anything about it. But she keeps hitting on him. David went back to the office, Eva was done with her notes and cleaned the office, it was her daily routine back then so she knows where exactly the things belong.

When he reached there, he saw everything is neatly arranged and she was sitting on the sofa reading the second book,

"Are you done with the notes I gave you, I told you before but I will repeat myself, I don't like people who try hard to impress me, I classify people with their worth "

He said seriously. On seeing him, Era stood up and was about to ask for notes from the second book but his comment was heartbreaking, she was so emotional, so she couldn't take it,

she said

" Sir l need to go out for a while," and left calmly.

He was a little upset. But he can't imagine anyone else taking Era's place in his life. She understood that David sir was always difficult to get along with, but when she was Era, two years ago, he was the only one to support her no matter what. He was always there for her.

She was not used to hearing that from him, and so she was so sad.
