Midas's Gift
Mira looked at the purple blob in her hands intensely with her lips pursed. Midas had thrown it up and pushed it over to her.
"I think he wants you to eat it," I said.
"I know. You said that already," she said.
"I did? Huh. My bad," I said. "Well, are you gonna do it?"
"I will! I'm just preparing myself," she said. She stared intensely at the blob and then shoved the whole thing in her mouth all at once. She struggled to swallow, but eventually succeeded.
"It feels weird and slightly cold. It didn't taste like anything though. Its coating my mouth and the inside of my throat. Actually, its coating down to my stomach. Something feels different. It feels like I can…" She said, and then closed her eyes.
Suddenly, her arms disappeared. Just the cybernetic parts. She wasn't going to bleed out all over the floor. Then, she squeezed her eyes harder and her arms came back.
