Chapter 1: Initial Awakening

Slowly his eyes open to see the sun peering down through his window. A look of enlightenment stains his face as he processes all of the information flowing into his mind. The child sat in contemplation for a whole 30 minutes without moving an inch, afterwards he breathed a sigh of relief.

"I see, it seems I skipped the first 3 years of my life, I guess thats for the best. I'm sure being a baby again would be horrific. At least being 3 years old allows me some movement and freedom"

The boy known as Ark Bates was approaching 4 years old when his memories reawakened.

"I better wait here until Mother comes to wake me up, I would rather not upset her routine."

Ark has only his mother as his father died when he was younger from a construction accident. Since then his mother and the others in the neighbourhood has helped raise him.

"While i'm waiting, I may as well look into this system thing. Now how do I access it?"

As he was pondering this, a screen appeared in front of his eyes. It was faded blue and seemed to disappear if he did not focus on it.

"It says its called the 'Mastery system'? Pretty generic name. It seems theres only one option called 'Host Stats'"

As he focused on that option, the screen changed and showed a larger screen with a lot more information. It looked similar to an RPG style character status screen except the Abilities were not shown, it seemed they were part of a different section.

"I guess thats to be expected from an infant. I suppose my intelligence is higher due to my memories but I am kind of insulted that I apparently have less than double digits intelligence"

Ark shrugged at the subtle dig from the system and realised that he could now not only improve his Pokemon through training, he could also train himself. Maybe that way, he could increase his chances of living better.

"With this I will be able to start regulating my training, with my current body i should focus on building up muscle and not exerting myself, after all no matter my mind. I'm still 3 years old."

After processing his stats, Ark focused on the section which said 'Abilities'. Again a new screen appeared but this one had a bit more information in the form of descriptions.

-The user learns at an insane speed and memory can be trained easily through memorisation. Able to store memories as information to be called upon.

-Can separate thought processes to allow the user to complete multiple processes at once.

-Pocket Storage

-A separated space that grows in size, unlike the pocket dimension. It cannot store live beings. Upgrades with the users strength.

Ark stared with his mouth agape. His heart full of gratitude towards the great entity who gave him such favorable conditions. While he was aware that there is no way this is a freebie, it allowed him to start his plans a lot earlier than normal.

"Though they may not be physically overpowered, with this combination, it allows me to progress practically unhindered in these early stages of my life."

Ark thought to himself about how best to use these newly gained abilities. As he sunk deeper into his thoughts, a slight creak alerted him to the door. As the door opened, a woman with long black hair and sky blue eyes slowly walked inside the room. She smiled when she looked towards the bundle on the bed. She stood over Ark with a loving smile, though she was only around 5ft 5inches tall, it was towering to the current Ark.

"Ark honey, it's time to wake up. It's time for breakfast"

His mother gently shook Ark as she spoke to him in a gentle voice. Ark slowly sat up and smiled brightly at his mother, even with his old memories, this lady who has poured her love and care into his growth will forever be his Mother to him.

"Morning Mother!"

Ark energetically jumped out of bed and hugged his mother before saying

"Mother I'll get dressed, then breakfast"

A mild expression of shock crossed his mothers face before it softened and she left the room.

"It seems that Mother caught onto my sudden increase in vocabulary. I will gradually increase it so it seems slightly more natural. I will read and put more effort into my learning so it doesn't raise suspicions"

Ark walked to his wardrobe and grabbed a pair of jeanshorts and red t-shirt. He found it very awkward using his small limbs to get changed but after 5 minutes of clothes wrestling, he manged to get it on.

Heading down the stairs one step at a time while holding onto the railing for dear life, Ark descended to the dining room. Simultaneously, his mother appeared from the kitchen with his bowl of cereals and her own breakfast. His mother smiled at him and said

"Ark dear, your t-shirt is on the wrong way around"

Ark froze.
