TTW Chapter 149: New World

After Liya's wedding, Lin Yi took a few days off to spend quality time with both Argenta and Liya.

He no longer had a reason to stay in the Dragon Nest world.

After all, he couldn't gain much benefit in this world in a short period.

"System, open the next world," Lin Yi said.

With the cold voice of the system responding, a temporal portal smoothly opened, ripples like a water curtain fluctuating in front of him.

It seemed that the more worlds he conquered, the stronger the system's ability to connect to new worlds became.

He took a step forward, and as he left, time in the Dragon Nest world slowly stopped.

Lin Yi felt a whirlwind around him, bizarre and disorienting, countless points of light flashing before him, and then his eyes lit up.

Looking around, he found himself in a forest. However, it seemed to be a bitterly cold place, with frost covering the tree branches and chilling winds blowing around him. Looking up, all he could see was snow.

"What world is this?" Lin Yi wondered, feeling more and more that the system was becoming unreliable.

In the Dragon Nest world, he was dropped in a wild and remote area and almost starved.

With no other choice, Lin Yi braved the wind and snow, choosing a random direction in hopes of finding some signs of life. This time, however, his luck seemed to be better than in the Dragon Nest world.

After walking for about half a day, he found some traces at the foot of a mountain.

There appeared to have been a great battle here, with countless unattended corpses, armors, weapons, and blood frozen into ice.

Lin Yi frowned, noticing something odd. Many of the bodies seemed to have been frozen solid and then violently shattered, leaving their remains scattered like ice shards. Most of these corpses were dressed like barbarians, wearing thick animal fur. A few, however, wore uniform armor.

Waving his hand, Lin Yi guessed the battle happened almost two days ago. The air was filled with a pungent smell, which he found very unpleasant and eerie.

Following faint footprints on the ground, Lin Yi continued his journey.

Judging by the warfare style of this world, which still seemed to involve traditional hand-to-hand combat, he believed he could defend himself.

Almost two days later, near dusk, Lin Yi finally saw the first building, a fortress. The towering walls of the fortress stood tall, and behind it was a steep cliff, making the fortress a strategic stronghold.

This was the only building Lin Yi had seen in three days, so he headed straight for its main gate without hesitation.

As he approached, he suddenly heard the sound of something cutting through the air. Without looking up, Lin Yi reached out and deflected it, breaking an arrow mid-flight.

"It's quite dangerous here," Lin Yi commented nonchalantly. Looking up, he saw two soldiers on the wall, aiming their crossbows at him, on high alert.

"I'm a traveler from the north, lost in the snow. Could you possibly grant me entry?" Lin Yi shouted.

The two soldiers on the wall glanced at each other and relaxed slightly. One of them nodded, and the other went inside the fortress to inform their superiors, shouting down, "Wait there. I'll notify the others."

"It seems they're not too difficult to deal with," Lin Yi thought with a smile, not wanting to make enemies in a world unfamiliar to him.

At this moment, Lin Yi took the time to observe the fortress in detail. He noticed a flag on the side wall, embroidered with a special pattern, the meaning of which he didn't know.

Not long after, the gate in front of Lin Yi slowly opened.

A group of soldiers came out to greet him. Lin Yi squinted; he recognized their uniform armor from the battlefield two days ago.

The following was a routine check, as they suspected Lin Yi might be a spy.

However, judging by Lin Yi's appearance, he seemed to have no connection to the barbarians from the north.

"Sir, I'm a genuine civilian," Lin Yi said.

Lin Yi laughed and said calmly.

The leading captain looked suspicious. It was rare to see someone look this way in the military.

However, there seemed to be someone of even higher status here. Before the captain could speak, he checked Lin Yi and found nothing. He then obediently stepped aside...

Soon, he saw the person behind all this.

The newcomer had gorgeous and smooth silver-blue long hair. She had delicate features, an extremely beautiful appearance, a melon-seed shaped face, and snow-white skin. The woman exuded a regal queen-like aura. Coupled with her prominent figure and captivating ice-blue eyes, she was truly a sight to behold.

The surrounding soldiers immediately straightened up as if they had seen a formidable beast, saluting respectfully.

They shouted, "General!"

It turned out that the newcomer was a female general, which was quite unusual.

The blue-haired general nodded and exchanged a glance with Lin Yi. Seeing Lin Yi looking at her so openly, she couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you afraid of me?"

"Why should I be afraid of you?" Lin Yi replied in confusion.

"Interesting," the blue-haired general chuckled, thinking this traveler was quite handsome. However, she didn't believe a word Lin Yi said.

This was the Northern Wilderness. How could an ordinary person survive here alone?

"I heard you snapped a crossbow bolt in mid-air with a flick of your finger?" the blue-haired general inquired.

"Being on my own, I need to have some means of protection," Lin Yi shrugged and explained casually.

"Then you can stay here for now."

The blue-haired general continued, "In the entire Northern Wilderness, aside from this fortress, there's no other safe place."

"Is there a war going on here?" Lin Yi asked.

"Yes, but it's almost over," the blue-haired general replied confidently. She then instructed the captain beside her to arrange accommodations for Lin Yi and left.

Lin Yi chatted with the captain for a while, and they gradually became acquainted.

The captain's name was Ers.

Lin Yi tried to recall but realized he hadn't heard of this name before. It seemed Ers was just a commoner.

However, Captain Ers seemed like a decent person. He was very hospitable, arranging for Lin Yi to stay in their squad's dormitory and even brought him new clothes and a bowl of hot soup.

Although Lin Yi wasn't short of supplies d– he had everything he needed in his system space – everything he took to the Attack on Titan World remained unused.
