Nick's Past (Part 2)

I sighed, I guess I will have to tell this story that I would rather forget. I sat Becca down on the sofa and I started to rub her back to calm her down as I started to explain.

"Listen Becca, I have only slept with one girl before. The only reason we started living together was because, at the time, we both were in love and thought that we would eventually get married.

I wouldn't sleep with someone lightly. I personally believe that it should only be done with someone you love."

Becca looked curious. "Then what happened between you two to not get married? In the Kingdom, all couples of similar status that have slept together eventually get married to save face, unless you are a playboy like Nicolas."

"Well, we started to live together my last year of school. We dreamed of getting married after we finished school, but after 6 months of living together, my ex-girlfriend started to become distant.

I was confused because I would always try to cherish her and shower her with attention when I was with her. At the time, I thought it was because she was stressed with the last year of school, so I didn't worry about it too much and just tried to be extra kind to her.

Then one day, she told me that she was at the library studying, so I went to a restaurant to have food ready when she got back.

But at the restaurant, I saw her eating dinner with a man I did not know. She was laughing and enjoying herself.

There was a chance it was a misunderstanding, so I went up to confront her. She was shocked when she saw me and sent the man home. She told me that she had only been to dinner with the man a couple of times and that it was not serious.

But it was too much for me to handle. It was obvious that they were there for a date. Even if nothing serious happened so far, it would have eventually if I didn't catch her red handed.

She had lied to me about her plans to meet some other man. She ended up breaking my trust, so I broke up with her that day for cheating on me.

She later told me the reason that she ended up doing something like that was because I spoiled her too much. She said it felt good when we first started dating, but that when we moved in together, it ended up becoming suffocating.

She said that she didn't even really like the guy she was with but at least the date was relaxing."

Becca was crying and nudging her head on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry this happened to you Nick! I shouldn't have screamed at you earlier without the full details. It's all her fault! You did nothing wrong.

I know how much it hurts to be cheated on. I didn't even like Nicolas in the first place, but it was still a horrible feeling. It must have been even harder on you since you loved your ex back then."

I smiled bitterly. "It's ok now Becca. Some people might have had this experience and decided that they needed to change, but I doubled down instead.

I was definitely heartbroken at the time, but I wouldn't let my ex-girlfriend's words change who I am. I am the most happy in a relationship when I can do things for my partner. I know that there are plenty of people out there who would be overjoyed to be in a relationship with a person like me. I just need to find the right person who matches my personality. I know my worth. I won't let one girl not returning my love make me think any less of myself.

I just wish she would have respected me enough to tell me how she was feeling and break up with me instead of cheating on me behind my back…

That's why I am giving you a 6 month period of dating, so you can take your time and decide how you feel about being in a relationship with me. If you are not happy, I hope you can respect me enough to be honest with me and break up with me instead of going behind my back."

I patted Becca on the head. Getting cheated on sucks, but I don't have any regrets. It helped me strengthen my own principles and know exactly what I want. I knew I was a good man and it was just a matter of time before I found a good woman who matched my personality. Maybe by some twist of fate, I was transmigrated right in front of that very woman three days ago…

Becca looked up at me hesitantly, "are you really okay with me? You were forced to change bodies and get married to me. Don't you find me uncivilized since I grew up in this backwards Kingdom? I bet you would prefer to be with a girl from your world like your ex."

I never really thought about that before. Becca was lovely regardless of what world she was raised in.

"Becca, I think you are really great. You have a fiery personality that will not back down. You fought so hard that the backward society that you lived in has not shaped who you are. I am actually surprised how open minded you are, but I really like that about you. So please don't put yourself down like that."

"You really don't miss your ex when you look at me?", Becca asked with puppy dog eyes.

I smiled at the humble Becca and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.

I leaned in and softly whispered in her ear, "Becca you are the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on. No one can compare. When I look at you, I have my full focus on you only."

Her face become a deep red. She tried to say something, but only inaudible sounds came out her mouth.

I pulled back my face. "Becca, I like to see all my past relationships as stepping stones to the time that I have my last relationship and find the person I am meant to spend the rest of my life with. I can't say for sure, but I hope that all of those stepping stones were to prepare me for this relationship with you."

I gave her a soft hug.

"Nick, I am still sad that another woman got to you first and took your virginity. But there is nothing I can do about it now. You were in a whole different world than me at the time.

In my world, you could have demanded she be hung for her crimes, but you accepted it calmly and let her go. Sometimes you might be too kind for your own good, but that kindness of yours is my salvation.

I want you to know that I would never cheat on you, even if it wasn't illegal for women here. You are a kind and thoughtful man. Every time you try to cherish me, I feel a warm feeling in my chest. I will not take you for granted."

"Thanks Becca." Her words put a smile on my face.

Becca started squirming like she was nervous about something.

"So Nick, since you hate someone else with your partner, I hope you will not take another wife in the future…

I am okay with a few concubines, but I would appreciate it if you cherish me enough to make me your only wife."

This took me by surprise. Was promising to have no second wife and only concubines supposed to be romantic in this Kingdom?

"Becca, in my world there are no concubines and it is illegal to have more than one wife. Everyone has only one partner. Of course, there are some exceptions, but it is very rare.

If we do get married, you will be my only woman. I will never sleep with or even kiss another person again."

I was surprised to see the greed in Becca's eyes.

"You promise?!"

"Yes."

Becca started giggling to herself.

"I will never forgive you if you break this promise! If we get married, you will be all mine. I won't share with anyone!"

Becca's possessiveness was sudden, but I didn't dislike it. I didn't plan to ever cheat, so I had nothing to worry about.

But one idea did come to me. I gave her a playful smile.

"Well…if we get married, you will eventually have to share me with our children."

Becca's giggles turned into a sudden cough from surprise.

"That doesn't count as sharing! I meant sharing romantically!"

"Ok, Darling."

Becca was flustered, "don't get ahead of yourself!"

She gave me a playful push.

"Ok ok. Come on, let's focus on the present and let me treat you to breakfast like I planned."
