Chapter 7: "Reunion and Resistance The meeting of paths"

The room fell into a hushed tension as Mrs. Kim approached Riya, her every step echoing the weight of years of longing and uncertainty. Her gaze, fraught with a mixture of trepidation and yearning, traced Riya's features, seeking solace in the familiar contours of her face.

"It's really her," she whispered, her voice barely audible amidst the palpable silence. "She looks so beautiful, just like her grandmother," Mrs. Kim continued, her words tinged with a hint of sorrow and nostalgia.

"And her hair... it's just like mine when I was young," she added, a bittersweet smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

Riya stood before her, a picture of youthful grace and innocence, oblivious to the tumult of emotions swirling around her. Yet, before Mrs. Kim could close the distance and envelope her in a long-awaited embrace, Mrs. Sharma intervened, her presence commanding attention and respect.

"I'm sorry for what happened to your daughter, but my Riya is not your daughter. You must leave, please " Mrs. Sharma said.

"Mrs. Sharma's voice was steady, and her words were delivered with a firmness that brooked no argument. Despite the gentleness in her tone, there was an unmistakable edge of determination—a silent declaration of her unwavering resolve to protect her family.

Mrs. Kim's heart sank at the rejection; her hopes dashed against the harsh reality of the moment.

"What? Please trust us. We are telling the truth," she implored, desperation lacing her words as she reached for the thin lifeline offered by the DNA report clutched tightly in her trembling hand.

"If you don't believe me, we also have a DNA report. You can check," she urged, her voice cracking with emotion.

Mrs. Sharma remained unmoved, her resolve unyielding in the face of Mrs. Kim's plea. "No need. We do not need to do that. You can leave," she responded, her words tinged with a hint of regret as she gently but firmly declined the offer.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kim stood by, a silent yet steadfast presence, his eyes fixed on Riya with an intensity that bespoke a father's unwavering love.

"I know we were a bit impulsive earlier, but please understand," he interjected, his voice filled with a quiet sincerity that cut through the tension like a beacon of hope.

"We have already checked everything before coming here, and we are 100% sure that Riya is our daughter," he continued, his gaze softening as it lingered on Riya's face, a mirror image of his own mother's.

As the Kim family pleaded their case, the Sharma family's facade of composure began to crack, the weight of uncertainty bearing down on them like a heavy burden.

"I don't want to hear anything more. Just go now, or we will call the cops." Mrs. Sharma's voice was sharp, her grip tightening on Mrs. Sharma's hand as she sought to assert control over the situation.

Riya, sensing her mother's distress, stepped forward, her voice steady despite the turmoil raging within her. "Please, ma'am, sir. Whatever your motive is, please leave now," she implored, her words carrying the weight of a daughter's love and loyalty.
