Chapter 36

When I saw the tree coming toward us my body instinctively reacted and a barrier is formed. I could feel why they say magic is the other half for people like us. Normal people when facing danger cover their faces by reflex but people like us use magic to protect or defend themselves. After the barrier was formed I felt the warmth enveloping my body. It was a wounded figure holding me securely with his slim body. With this closeness, I could feel my chin touching the top of his head. A smile formed on my lips. Although his body is severely injured he is trying his best to protect me. I want to embrace him tightly. I was again shocked by my thought and abruptly separated myself from him.

"What are you doing?" I asked in a slightly raised voice. I could see him looking at me in confusion then turning back and looking at the barrier. Even though his face was not completely facing me I could see his eyes enlarging.
