CHAPTER 22: BROTHER’S GIFT

Arianna was free as long as she completed her daily missions assigned to her by the system. When she had time to herself, she would read books in her study, which included novels and textbooks.

As someone who had not been in school for a long time, she reasoned that it would be prudent for her to re-visit the books, so she would spend some time going over the previous semester's books.

When the servants saw her in this state, they would excuse themselves to give her the peace she needed to absorb the books. She developed a photographic memory after taking those memory-enhancing pills. Everything she reads or sees will stick with her; it was like a great cheat, and one that she loves.

As a result, her reading speed increased slightly, and she was confident that she would be finished with all of the books by the time school started. After that, she'll read high school books because she's already forgotten everything.

If she wasn't reading books, she'd be sleeping on a fluffy couch in the sitting room, watching movies and TV shows on the big screen. And when she gets bored with everything, Arianna will take a walk in the garden, admiring the beautiful flowers that the gardeners care for with all their hearts.

Arianna was watching a cartoon on the big screen that day, laughing and giggling whenever the characters did something amusing. This scene was no longer worrisome because the servants were aware of their young lady's changes.

She was like a child; most of them had watched her grow up and she had matured far too quickly, but when she was raised from the dead, she began to act like a child, which was both a relief and a source of concern.

Arianna, who was enjoying her cartons, didn't bother attempting to guess the servants' thoughts because this was more interesting and less concerning to her. The ability to live and enjoy what life has to offer was the greatest gift anyone could ever receive.

She was going to make up for it in this life because she wasn't able to play fully in her previous life. After all, she has to be happy, and doing this at some point makes her happy.

She will be tortured in that system space while performing the missions so she needed to cool down. She recently began needlework lessons in addition to learning to cook.

They were living in an era when machines did everything, and yet she had to be tortured like that by making one stitch at a time with a needle. Every time she finishes, her poor fingers will be numb and sore, but she reminds herself that everything was done for her, so she always endures.

But when she wasn't suffering, Arianna made sure she was having fun and living a stress-free life because she didn't know what the future held for her. Arianna didn't notice she wasn't alone in the room because she was preoccupied with herself.

Anderson Kendall, also known as the young duke, was present in the room. He was the eldest and only son of the duke of Lexus. His face was filled with emotion as he observed how childish his little sister had become since being discharged.

He, like the others, lacked the courage to chastise her for what she had done. He was aware of how spoiled she was, and he was one of the people who had contributed to her condition.

Everyone had been so preoccupied that she was left to her own devices; perhaps this is why she fell for that cunning man.

It was too late by the time he realized how far his little sister had sunk. He couldn't make her stop loving him, and he couldn't do anything to help her either. Finally, the little baby attempted suicide because that jerk had hooked up with another.

It was almost as if Lucas hadn't given his family a face. Who didn't know how much Arianna adored him, and yet he proposed in such a lavish and explosive manner? He despised Lucas so much because it was because of him that he almost lost their precious child.

He promised himself that he would look after her and protect her. He will treat her well more and provide her with whatever she desires. He didn't care if he was increasing the spoiling; all he wanted was for her to forget about Lucas and heal the wound he had left.

So seeing her happily watching cartoons that even his own children would dismiss as childish warmed his heart.

"Are they so fascinating that you can't see your own brother?" Anderson decided to speak up after realizing that if he remained silent, she would not even notice or acknowledge him.

When she heard a male voice, she jumped out of her couch, looked in the direction of the voice, and smiled. She had completely forgotten that her heart was about to leap out of her rib cage a few moments before.

Arianna had always wanted a big brother and had not met him since transmigrating to this world, so seeing him in flesh like this made her so happy that she threw away all decorum and leapt into the older man's arms.

Anderson smiled happily and took the baby in his arms when he saw her like that. She had refused to be carried or treated like a child since she matured at a young age, which saddened not only him but also his sisters and their parents.

"When did you return, brother?" she asked cheerfully, her long legs wrapping around his lean waist.

"You were having so much fun a while ago that I couldn't bear disturbing you."

"You are more important than they are. I'll just repeat them," she pouted as she looked at him.

Anderson thought his little sister was so adorable that he pinched her cheeks, making her small face blush with shyness.

Anderson felt refreshed listening to his sister talk non-stop like that in the sitting room where the siblings sat together and talked. He didn't have much time to spend with her, but he felt very generous and left her a gift, which she gladly accepted before he left, promising to return when he was free.

Arianna, who had just received a bank card with another ten million dollars, was extremely happy because this money would be her salvation. She had given all of her money to Leah, and having some extra cash wasn't that bad.

She could simply open a second café with this money and sit back and wait for the money to come in.
