The girl Who is no longer bored.

The last day she was bored.

As a child, Alicia was always happy. She always kept busy, sometimes this was playing with friends sometimes this would be drawing. This changed as her generation became accustomed to so many sources fighting for their ever-diminishing attention span. Causing issues of desensitization from overstimulation. This caused feelings of boredom and isolation within the real world. This affected Alicia greatly in her tween years, only getting worse as a teenager this isolation and boredom became a perpetual state of being for her. This was characterized by her unofficial catch phrase "I is bored."

The Cataclysm

It was one of these many days of perpetual boredom that she would post on Social Media the message "I is bored" . Seeing this Frank, Alicia's boyfriend, attempted to quelled the sense of boredom for her by inviting her to a game "among us" through messenger.

Frank: Hey, Wanna play a game of Among US?

Alicia: Naa

Frank: Are you sure, I saw you post about being bored?

Alicia: I'm sure

I always want to be Imposter but

I never seem to get to be imposter

Frank: Want me to call you?

Alicia: I will call u after this YouTube video

Frank: Ok

Alicia: Dad is going to be home late from work, so I am going to make some pizza rolls.

Frank: Call me when you get done eating.

Alicia: Do you feel an earthquake?

Frank: What do you mean? It's calm over here.

Frank: You OK?

Frank: It's been two hours and I am getting worried!

Frank had called about a dozen times, each time had gone straight to voice mail. Just as he was about to give up, Frank's phone rang. His anxiety lifted until he noticed that it was Alicia's dad. Frank asked, "Is everything OK, Mr. Stien? I have been trying to reach Alicia for hours?"

With a voice full of concern, Mr. Stien responded, "I was calling to ask you if she was with you."

Frank's anxiety reached a new climax.

"What do you mean? When I talked to her, she was about to make pizza roles and then said something about an earthquake?"

At this point Mr. Stien voice had gone from concerned to a trembling.

"It's gone!"

"What's gone?"

"The house, its vanished, including the concrete."

"How is this possible?"

"IDK, "

The awakening

Alicia felt a powerful hand shake her. It started gently and then became violent. She said, "Dad, give me five minutes." She heard a raspy voice respond, "Girl, if you aren't up in five seconds, you're going overboard!" Hearing that strange raspy voice caused her head to fill with fear. This fear helped her pry her eyelids open, even though they felt as heavy as led.

"Who are you? What are you doing in my room?"

"Your room, this is my ship girl!"

"No one refuses the captain's orders, not even a dignitary!"

She shook her head, trying to bring everything into focus. A middle-aged man with a scruffy white beard came into focus. The wooden walls of a ship came into focus next. The walls looked like they had seen many years in the harsh elements.

Her fear changed to confusion. "Where am I?"

"The Hikō-tei, the same place for the last 12 years," said the captain

"What's the Hikō-te? Why did you call me a Dignitary?"

"Girl, its not just anyone that can hire the crew of Hikō-te."

"It takes political power to cover the price of this crew!"

None of his answers made sense to her. She put her hands on her hips and started getting very frustrated with the Captain. "Old guy, I am not sure who you think I am, my name is Alicia, and I am no dignitary, whatever that is!" With a growl the Captain said, "Quit your sassing, Straighten your uniform and let's finish this journey!".

Alicia quickly stood up to avoid another scalding remark from the Captain. It took her a moment to straighten her blouse. In that moment the captain had left. He stopped halfway up the stairs to say, "Don't forget to grab your gear on, the barrel." Without waiting to see if she had heard him, he left the room.

Alicia started looking around for the gear the captain was talking about. The only thing she found was a satchel, some throwing stars, and what looked like a pen without a tip. In a swift motion, she stashed both items inside the satchel and threw it over her shoulder. Making her way up the stairs , the ship rocked violently, almost throwing her back down the stairs.

To prevent falling down the stairs, she grabbed a worn handrail. This was when the Captain yelled," Girl, quit dilly dallying, you're needed up here." The feeling of frustration continued to increase as she climbed the last step and threw the doors open. All feelings of frustration were replaced with awe. In front of her was the most amazing night sky. It was full of stars that seemed to be bigger and clearer than she could remember. This sky full of stars lit up the ship, if she could call it that. It was the size of a small town. The Hikō-te had people running around as far as she could see.

The enormous ship wasn't the most surprising thing, among the stars were landmasses in the shape of discs. She couldn't tell how big they were, but the smallest seemed to be the size of the United States. They almost reminded her of the images of the Earth from outer space, except these were flat and not a sphere like she knew the world to be.

She couldn't wrap her mind around everything. All the objects were so foreign compared to the world she remembered. Some discs looked like the earth, others looked like the moon, while others reminded her of Jupiter. The ship seemed to be made of wood, but she knew there was no way that something that big could be made of wood and not sink.

That raspy voice that was becoming all too familiar to her broke her reverence for the environment. "You might be important, but even a dignitary doesn't keep me waiting on my ship!" The assault on her senses from so many foreign sights, sound and smells caused disorientation. All she could do was spin around and look for the captain. This seemed fruitless because there were so many crew members walking about.

A gaunt young boy ran down a set of stairs to her left. She stepped out of the way, thinking he was going to run into her, but he sidestepped with her. The boy skidded to a stop and grabbed her sleeve. With only a breath's worth of time, the boy spun on his heels and said, "Captain's getting very upset, ma'am. Come this Way."

Alicia followed the boy up the stairs he had come down moments before. She attempted to match his pace. Reaching the top of the stairs, the boy stopped. "Ma'am this is where I leave you." He ran back down the steps before the captain could give him another task.

The captain , several men, and one woman stood next to a strange machine. This contraption looked almost like the track of a model train. There were four of them, each one had a stone on it of a different color.

Alicia exclaimed, "Would people stop bossing me around!" The captain slammed a gigantic sword down onto the deck of the ship. This motion caused the boards under her feet to feel like they were going to buckle.

He said, "Girl, you keep wasting my time and I will throw you overboard. The void awaits."

"Is the void water?"

"Are you daft girl, You can swim in water , the void you would float away in."

Her jaw dropped as she gazed past the captain and saw the stars not only above but below the ship. She stood with her mouth agape for several moments before she gained her composure again. "How in the world is this ship flying through the void?"

"The Sunpō ishi stones allow the ships to travel between destinations."

The captain waved her over to him and turned to the machine at his side. According to his explanation, each of the stones affected the ship's navigation. The first stone was red and moving it along the track would cause the ship to go left and right. The second stone was blue and caused the ship to rise and fall. The third stone was Green and causes the ship to flip upside down. The fourth stone was yellow and controlled how fast it would go.

The captain placed a hand on Alicia's shoulder and spun her around. One disc looked dangerously close.

Alicia asked, "Shouldn't you steer away from that disc?"

The captain retorted, "Why would I go around are destination?"

"You can land on them?"

"Of course, We came from one, we can land on one."

"Our job is complete, yours has only begun, Dignitary."
