Chapter 4- The Strong Bullying The Weak… Assassination Attempt 101!!

A small commotion was happening within the crowd, as the children participating in the ceremony chatted amongst each other.

"That was the crown prince, right? I can't believe I managed to get a glimpse of such a legendary figure. Even if I don't get into the Celestial Academy, just this alone is enough for me to brag about when I return to my village."

A youth who was wearing shabby clothes only fit for someone living on the streets said with excitement and contentment.

Another youth who was clad in a luxurious fur coat, turn to look at him with a face that resembled someone who had just smelled dog crap.

With a disgusted tone the youth in fur coat said, "A country bumpkin like you should be grateful that you even get a chance to see someone as amazing as the crown prince before you die. Trash like you shouldn't even be here in the first place, the Celestial Academy should just start restricting foul dregs from participating in the Disciple Selection Ceremony. I mean, what kind of talent could a trash like you have anyway? You should just go back to your backwater village and not embarrass yourself in front of so many people."

As the youth spoke those words, several snickers and laughter echoed from the youths in the surroundings.

The youth that was humiliated had on an ashamed look as he lowered his head.

This type of treatment was normal for people of low statuses. In circumstances such as this, they have to suffer the ridicule and humiliation from people of noble backgrounds.

The youth's reaction to being treated in such a way could be called cowardice, but if he ever dare to talk back or show any sign of anger, it would give the fur-clad youth a reason to retaliate.

The youth didn't know what clan this fur-clad youth was from, but he knew it was probably strong enough to wipe out his little village. And ultimately that's what it all came down to, he didn't want to say something or cause trouble that would bring danger to his village.

After the youth in the fur-clad clothes saw the youth's reaction, he sneered and said, "Just trash taking up space, even if you die no one would notice."

Another round of laughter rang out from the surrounding youths.

Some other youths who were dressed the same as the ragged clothe youth were in the crowd nearby, and they couldn't help but grit their teeth while clenching their fists.

Seeing how someone who could have easily been them being treated like garbage, made indignation well up in their hearts.

They all thought to themselves that if they could just enter a cultivation institute like the Celestial Academy, then they'll have access to opportunities to become stronger. They wouldn't need to fear the bullying from people with noble backgrounds then and even if their strength isn't as high as theirs, the status of being a disciple of the Celestial Academy could deter almost anyone from taking action against them.

But though some people with similar backgrounds as the ragged clothe youth were burning with indignation at his treatment, others were trying to blend into the crowd, hoping to stay out of sight so they wouldn't be next.

They wouldn't go sticking out their necks for other people, they would prefer to focus on themselves and themselves alone.

As the youths of poor backgrounds were being jeered at, and the disciple selection ceremony was going on, a loud bang suddenly echoed out causing everyone to turn in the direction.

That direction was the plain Pavilion that no one dare to approach.

Xi Shen was seen strolling out through the door-less entrance.

As Xi Shen walked over the shards of oak wood that was once the Pavilion entrance door, he was fuming with concealed anger.

'Stupid old man trying to force me into joining some third-rate sect. It's all that bastard Fu Wei's fault, just you wait, in the future, I'll... I'll... I'll...'

In his rage Xi Shen couldn't come up with anything, so he angrily kick a chuck of the oak wood door sending it several meters out of sight.

'I don't know what I'll do to him, maybe I'll just turn him into a eunuch or something.'

As Xi Shen thought that in his anger, he suddenly paused.

'Wait, maybe that's not a good idea, seeing as he's the crown prince and everything. If he becomes a eunuch I'll inadvertently become the crown prince, effectively screwing over myself.'

Xi Shen then shook his head before he continue, 'I'm not interested in becoming emperor, and even though it was a side effect, that plum blossom I gave him had increased his innate talent so that worked out well to avoid me becoming the Crown Prince. Though who would have thought he had a Supreme-grade comprehension? If this continues he'll have attained full comprehension of my plum blossom by the end of the year. That's faster than I had anticipated.'

Xi Shen's anger began to fade, as he absentmindedly started walking towards the group of youths, and the large podium in deep thought.

He was total unaware that everyone's eyes were currently trained on him.

Everyone had watched dumbfoundedly as he angrily kick that chunk of oak wood several meters away. What Xi Shen didn't know was that the chunk of oak wood he kicked, had embedded itself, at its sharp end no less, in a Pavilion nearby.

A poor observer was there, who had gone wide-eyed at the chunk of wood flying towards him, only to have it whiz past his head by mere inches to then be stuck into the Pavilion's stone structure.

Cold sweat poured down that man's face as he and everyone else watch Xi Shen walk away.

Everyone would have taken it as an accident if they hadn't seen Xi Shen paused mid stride before shaking his head as if he was disappointed that the chunk of oak wood hadn't embedded itself into the man's skull.

Xi Shen was unaware of how his actions were perceived by everyone, but even if he did he wouldn't care, it was only an accident and he obviously wasn't trying to kill the man for no apparent reason.

But even though Xi Shen would have thought that, that was exactly what it had looked like from everyone's point of view.

They couldn't read his mind, so they didn't know what he was thinking when he had attempted his assassination of the man. They just saw him angrily stomping out of the pavilion, before kicking that oak wood at the man.

After it had missed, he just shook his head in disappointment and walked away.

That was basically assassination attempt 101, make it look like an accident!!
