A Glimpse Into The Past

Aaron stopped his movement abruptly, his cheeks flustered red because of the earlier action. He was always shy around girls and for a minute he thanked God visibility was very poor in this forest.

"It's a girl" Aaron announced to the others before moving to the second figure to also ascertain it's gender. "Get away from my sister!" The voice was already enough to tell them it was a man or at least their age.

He couldn't stay in this forest any further, insects were randomly climbing him here and there, and there were annoying mosquitoes that took pleasure in draining them of their blood. He motioned to the others urging them to move towards the exit with only gestures of his hands.

They walked towards the exit finally surfacing outside the forest with the two bound up captives sliding slowly behind them. They were out of the forest now and could see the faces of the humans they had bound up. They looked uncared for, their face darkened with dirt while their clothing barely covered their body.

The girl definitely looked their age or a bit older, but the male beside her was definitely older than they were. Aaron finally released them, leaving them free now and hoping they don't attack.

The two released captives took defensive stances to keep the Sun rays out of their eyes, which meant it had been long since they were outside this forest.

"What are you guys doing here?" Aaron asked as the ice blade in his hand slowly melted. He wanted to show them he didn't mean any harm.

"You're his son aren't you?" The older man asked immediately he was able to see again "Lucas, he's your father isn't he?" He questioned the tallest amongst the trio.

The twins turned to Robert hoping for him to give them an explanation but he was just as surprised as they were.

"Your parents did this! They killed innocent people without remorse. You'll all pay for your sins!" The man yelled on top of his lungs sending a wind blade towards the unprepared Robert but Nathaniel had intervened just in time to cancel the attack

"What do you mean?" Nathaniel asked, this man had opened fire on them without any reasonable explanation just because of some hatred towards their parents. He knew his mother and father too well and he knew they weren't capable of any of the things this man had just said. He was definitely mad from staying away from civilization for too.

"Nineteen years ago, your father and some strangers had attacked a building that was once here and without even considering the students and everyone that might be living in the place, they had blown it down to bits" The man explained his voice almost cracking from the anger and sadness that welled inside him.

He would remember that face anywhere, Lucas. They were partners once and were trained together by Tyrant until he decided to betray them and join the enemy's side. Then one night, the entire building had suddenly started collapsing. just before they were informed of intruders inside the building. The few of them who hadn't been crushed by the falling rocks rushed forward, hoping to stop this intrusion but as they neared where this battle went on, they instantly knew that this wasn't a fight they could partake in and instantly, they had started seeking for an escape route.

At this time, his mother was still pregnant with his baby sister and getting back to her was his topmost priority at the moment. He had managed to survive, him and very few others just before the building exploded into dust clearing out half of the life sorrounding it. He was sure without a doubt, that he had seen his friend Lucas just for the brief moment they watched the fight.

He had reached home safely, and after a months of staying at home, his sister was soon born and for that moment, it seemed his life was getting back to normal. He was happy once more but fate was a cruel bastard.

Their life had come crashing down once more when the locals had turned on them accusing their curse for the decimation of their forest and killing off the animals they hunted as food. His mother had been killed in this outrage and he had managed to escape with his little sister, living off scraps and stolen food. They had finally found comfort in the forest. With their powers they had been able to build a small cabin inside the forest and the animals inside served as food for them.

The forest had been declared cursed since it was believed that the curse of the Elementals still flowed in the earth beneath it, but this was comfort to them, nobody ever disturbed them and they did not disturb anybody until today when these kids had walked into their home. They weren't planning on killing them, they had thought they were regular humans and a little display of their prowess was sure to scare them off and keep the rumors from dying out, only for their attack to be countered. It had become a serious fight from then onwards, they weren't planning on sharing their home with any other elementals and it had become a death match but they had been bested only out of surprise.

He was sure water elementals were no longer in existence but the second he saw the human use liquid as a counter, he instantly knew they had to kill these people. He had heard how dangerous water elementals were even to the extent of being killed by their own people. The spikes from the trees had taken them completely unaware and they had to land if they did not want to be killed which eventually lead to their capture.

"I don't believe you" Robert defended his father. His father would never kill anyone, not without a reason and definitely not the innocent.

The girl stood behind her brother, watching and listening to everything they said and watching everything that happened. The only thing her brother had taught her since she could understand anything was never to trust anyone even though she had never really met anybody, not any she could remember.

She watched them in awe, looking at what they wore and how they looked, and how they looked so different from her.

Aaron could notice her eyes lingering all over him and he felt really uncomfortable with it. He walked out of her sight and stood beside his brother who tried to convince the man before him that their parents would never do such a thing but he wasn't yielding.

He was dead serious and his seriousness made it seem like he was saying the truth.

Sian laid on the couch, her head resting on Warren's laps while he polished his leather bag. Warren worked at the transportation company, the development in technology had brought forth an easier way to travel that they called train and Warren's intellect had easily made him one of the overseers of everything that went on at the station.

It was the weekend but he still wanted to be ready before the week started.

She was a full time house wife and she couldn't say she was proud of it. When the twins were still younger and attended the local school were they learnt to read bad write, she would sit alone doing nothing but sleep all day. And now that they were through with their education, they'd rather go around patrolling the town and looking for trouble or train. She was always bored and only the weekends gave her comfort.

A knock came to the door and Sian had stood to answer to answer. She walked towards the door and opened up granting access to the twelve year old Violet and her father Harold.

The little girl had embraced her tightly while Harold and Warren exchanged pleasantries. Violet was more like a daughter to her, she was one of the reasons she hadn't died of boredom in the past years. Violet would visit and spend the rest of the day with her only returning home when the boys were through for the day.

She was definitely here to play with her cousin's but it seemed Harold wasn't. He had gone aside with Warren to discuss something privately.

She closed the door behind her while restraining herself from walking over and involving herself in the conversation but she trusted Warren to tell her afterwards. Just before she could make two steps away from the door, another knock came in and she once again had to open the door.

She stared in horror at the sight of her son's and Robert they looked dirty and with them were two total strangers who looked even worse than they did. "Who are they?" Sian asked restraining Violet from running forward and hugging the dirty animals that stood in front of them.

Harold finally finished with Warren and the both of them finally surfaced smiling as if they had just finished a bottle of beer.

Harold froze in his tracks, he face he was staring at was strikingly familiar and he cracked his brain to try and recall where he had seen this face before. It all came pouring back to him, he had finally remembered, he used to be Lucas's partner while they trained he wasn't mistaken this was definitely him, "Joseph"
