The Cloaked Beast

A long time ago the Collapse brought about great ruin to Humanity. Now Humanity is divided in sparse cities, the last Bastions in a wasteland full of Monsters. However history doesn't have much meaning to Ridge Dwellers like Jay and his little sister Sanya. Their most prominent concerns are far more simple. 1. Stick Together 2. Finding Shelter 3. Aquiring Water and Food However life is never that easy for Ridge Dwellers, as they are not considered citizens of the Bastions. They've been split up before. They've toughed it out through storms, and they're commonly rather hungry. Plus, as kids when the authorities are clearing out abandoned buildings of thugs and the homeless they aren't as simply sent to work or arrested and punished. No, instead a record is manufactured and kept and they are sent to orphanages. From there they may be fostered or adopted. Jay is about to age out, at 16 years old he's expected to be working as continued schooling has a hefty price. Sanya is only 9 years old. Cute enough for inner city folk to adopt, and can barely remember a time when it wasn't just the two of them. Their parents had died in a factory collapse when Sanya was only 2, and while Jay was only 9. So he can't blame her for not remembering. Another night of cold wind has come as Winter draws near, so they find shelter. Not knowing what is to come.
