Alex could tell Vanessa hadn't followed on the conversation, and had missed the others telling Genny about her being his employee, hence the confusion on her face.
All eyes darted to Alex in curious wait of his answer. No one, except Alex was clueless as to what Genny's jeer was about. She has always had a tiff with Vanessa since highschool for a reason no one was sure about.
Even at Vanessa's absence at every reunion, she always looked for some way to drag her name into a conversation, and strike absurd comparisons. They believed having heard the comparison about Vanessa's looks as she walked in must have had her offended, especially in the presence of her date.
Alex didn't hide the frown that framed his brows when he observed the awkward gazes on him. It was obvious they were waiting for him to confirm or refute Genny's words, as it seemed there might be something going on between Vanessa and Genny.
