Chapter 8

I arrived at the restaurant one hour before the agreed time, but I didn't have to wait for long. A car stops in front of me and Kate steps out in a long red dress. (I am not going to go into details about her dress because I don't know shit about women's dresses.)

She looked stunning and I kept staring at her till she came to me and tapped my shoulder to bring me back to my senses. She asked "What happened James?" and I replied "You are too beautiful today."

I know I messed up at the beginning itself. I am not good with dates. Even in my previous life, I went on five dates and I was 25 when I died. Those 5 dates were complete disasters, so I wouldn't be surprising if she felt weird.

She chuckled and said "I hope you didn't wait for long. Let's go inside." holding my hand as she walked inside. We sat down and ordered food. Since I wasn't hungry and wasn't in a mood to eat. I let her order. She ordered some risotto and while we were waiting, I gave her the bouquet.

She took the bouquet and said "Although this bouquet is wonderful, I was expecting a gift."

I knew I should have gotten her a gift, and I could have asked Maria for help, but I was just too lazy to buy one. I replied to her "Ask anything you want. As long as it isn't too extreme, I will get it for you."

"Do you think I can't buy things I want? But I like the offer and will use it in the future." she said with a smile. Then the food arrived and we are while talking about various things.

After the dinner, we walked out of the restaurant and stood outside the restaurant, staring at each other.

We slowly moved closer to each other and locked lips. The kiss slowly got intimate. After a few minutes, we broke the kiss and looked at each other. Without words, both could tell what the other person was thinking.

We walked to the nearest hotel and got a room with my fake identity when the receptionist asked if I was old enough to stay alone in a hotel at night. We went to the room and as we got inside, we both stared at each other and got closer for a kiss. We both then slowly started taking off clothes of the other person and....

(I am leaving the rest to your imagination this time as I don't want to write about it when I only introduced Kate in the last chapter.)

We woke up the next day and we didn't care if we skipped the classes that day, as we both didn't care about the classes that much. While I easily get good grades by copying with my x-ray vision, Kate is intelligent and good at studies.

I got up early as I wasn't exhausted yesterday, while Kate was completely tired. Even though she had an athletic body, it was no match for my superhero physique. She still managed to keep up with me for four hours.

I ordered breakfast to the room and took bath. When I came out of the shower, I found Kate sitting on the bed. I walked to her and said "Good morning. Have you rested enough?"

She smiled and said "No, my lower half still feels sore. How was your dick still standing even after 4 hours?" to which I just smiled. The door bell rang and our breakfast was delivered.

We both had a good breakfast and she then somehow managed to go home. While I did want to fly her home, I felt that it still wasn't a good time to tell her about my superpowers. I thought of telling her when Vought makes its move.

I then flew back home and spent the rest of the day doing my power merging training. I had a hypothesis to check, but I can't seem to find a good target for that. Kate sure is a good target, but I didn't want to drag her into this now.

With no other option, I proceeded to another experiment. I was thinking of gathering my flames and compression them with my telekinesis to make them similar to an explosion.

But to use this in real life battles, I need to be quick in compression and release while maintaining my control over the explosion to prevent any accidents. Although I would be safe, others around me wouldn't.

I spent my time practicing it and returned home for dinner. I then spent some time with Margaret and Maria before going to bed.

The day, I went to school and Kate still showed signs of tiredness, which is to be expected even when I held back a lot. She was with her friend group, so I didn't disturb her and went to my class.

I was talking with a few girls before the bell rang and the teacher entered the class. Everything was as usual, except for Lyra who would glare at me as she walks past me.

A week passed by and I walked out of my class. I met Max in the hallway and we both were walking, when Lyra stopped us by standing in front of me.

She said in a loud voice "James, I will give you one last chance to apologise for what you did last week." attracting kids to gather around to see what was happening.

Lyra's father is someone who is struggling to stay in the corporate world. I had no interest in playing around with her. I didn't say anything and walked past her. She said in an angry tone "James, we will meet again, but it would be too late to apologise then." and she walked the other direction.

I didn't care about her and went back home to train that explosive move. When I arrived home, there was a package at the doorstep. I took it inside and said "Maria, there was a package at the doorstep." seeing through the package, but I couldn't completely see through it. It looked like some box and it is made of Zinc.

Maria replied from the kitchen "Why did they just drop it at the doorstep? It is a makeup box which costs $4,000. How could they carelessly leave it at the doorstep?"

It did look fancy, but I didn't know what makes it worth $4,000. I didn't care about women stuff so, I placed it on the table and flew out to train the move. I am already the strongest man on Earth. The only reason I am training these new powers is to get rid of my boredom.

I also think Lyra has something planned for me, which is getting me excited for the future. I shouldn't get my hopes up though. Hank also looked serious about his revenge, but all he did was bring two of his favourite superheroes to their death.

After training for two hours, I mastered the move and could create explosive balls within seconds. They are similar to Crimson Countess' powers. I wonder what that bitch is doing now. After Soldier Boy was captured by the Russians, the Payback broke up and now that the TNT twin and Gunpowder aren't alive, there are only two active superheroes from the Payback. Mindstorm retired from being a superhero after the incident with me.

They should be receiving a lot of fame and money now that the competition is very less. There are a few other superheroes, but they still haven't gained as much fame as the Payback. I can go to them and blackmail them for money if I need any.

I then flew to South Korea and spent some time there before returning home for dinner. I flew to my room and walked downstairs. I asked "Maria, is the dinner ready?" but didn't get a reply.

I also felt that it was strangely too silent, but I could hear multiple heartbeats from the living room. I sighed and entered the living room to find five police officers in the room.

Maira was sitting on the couch beside Margaret, while a police officer in his 40s, sat on a chair in front of them. On the coffee table, the package I brought in, was open and the box was also open. inside which were white packets. They should be drugs.

The police officer who was sitting on the chair. got up and said "Sorry to barge in at dinner time, but we all got to do our duty. James, you are under arrest for raping a woman, selling drugs and false allegations against three companies which led to their bankruptcy."

"Officer, there has been some mistake. Someone is clearly trying to frame him." Maria said and the officer said "He will be taken to the police station first. You can then discuss this with your lawyer, but I doubt you will win the case, as we have proofs for all the stated crimes."

I looked at Maria and said "Don't worry, stay calm and get a lawyer. I will take care of everything." trying to assure her that I will be fine. I then went to the police station and when we got there, Kate and her father were at the station. I asked Kate "Why are you at the police station?" but she didn't reply.

Her father said "Where else would we go when you raped my daughter? I will make sure you rot in prison for the rest of your life."

Margaret followed me to the police station while Maria was looking for a lawyer. Margaret asked me "James, what is happening? Isn't she your girlfriend?"

I didn't say anything and just smiled. I turned to Margaret and said "Tell Maria that we don't need a lawyer. I will come home in two days."

"We'll see about that." Kate's father said and walked out of the station with Kate. Margaret was also confiused, but didn't have a lot of time to ask, as I was taken to my cell. Before going to my cell, I made sure Margaret remembered what I said about not needing a lawyer.

I didn't have any cellmates, which is good for me. I made a clone of myself to stay in the prison while I escaped from there by turning into pure electricity and travelling through the electric wires in prison.

When I got out from the prison, I flew back home. Maria looked at me and immediately hugged me. She said "I don't know what is happening and why this is happening. I just want you to be safe."

"I told you that nothing will happen to me. Even if I want to kill myself, it will be very difficult. Also, I know what is happening and who is behind this. I am going to stay somewhere else till I solve the case. Don't worry about me." I said and flew to Max's home.

I flew inside his room through the window. Max, who was in his bed, was about to sleep, but I woke him up. He shouted "Oh my god James, how did you get here?"

I gestured him to speak softly and said "I don't have time to explain everything. I have superpowers and I was arrested a few minutes ago. I thought you would feel bad if I didn't involve you in this exciting case."

"I would never feel bad for not getting involved with an escaped convict. Also, I know that you like to deal with these stuff yourself. Why did you come here?" Max asked and I laughed.

He really knew a lot about me. I said "I am lazy, so I want you to get me a list of everyone involved in my case. I want to make sure everyone is rewarded for their hard work. Your family has connections with the FBI and thus my reason for flying here."

"You really know how to get into trouble. Ok, with Bishop families' connections and my family's connections, it shouldn't be a problem." Max said and I mentioned "About that, Kate's father filed a case, accusing me of raping Kate. So, you can't take their help."

"This is getting more complicated. Who is behind all this? Is it Lyra?" Max asked and I replied "I already know a few people involved. Take care of the two other cases on me while I deal with Kate."

I slept in Max's room and the next day, I flew to Kate's home. She was in her room, sleeping. I flew into her room and this woke up Kate. She however didn't react at all. This was something I had seen before.

It is Mindstorm's powers where he can put the mind to sleep and then hypnotize the target to do anything. I read this in the files I secretly stole from Vought database when I was in the lab.

I placed my hand on Kate's head and undid Mindstorm's power on Kate. She immediately jumped at me and said "James, I am sorry. I can't believe they would do all that. I am really sorry." crying as she said that.

"Calm down Kate. I am not mad at you or anything. Now I need you to tell me what exactly happened to you. Only then will I be able to get revenge." I said, wiping her tears.

She then said "Ok. James, I don't want you to hate me for what I am about to say." paused for my nod and said "I work for the FBI. Well, I don't actually work for the FBI. My real parents work for the FBI and they sent me to spy on you."
