AWKWARD ARRANGEMENT IN THE CAR
Richmond, seemingly amused, dismissed the plea with a nonchalant laugh. "Don't be stupid, Jackson. With money, everyone is replaceable."
Richmond was angry with Jackson for trying to involve his father into a matter that didn't concern him. If Jackson thought he would give him back the job, he had a bigger thing coming.
Even if he was planning on giving him back the job earlier, now he was never going to allow Jackson drive him ever again.
A surge of fury coursed through Jackson's veins, and he stormed away, unable to contain his indignation.
The words hung in the air, and Anne felt a pang of discomfort. Richmond, calling Jackson back, sported a small smile—an incongruity that hinted at a deeper game being played.
Jackson, drawn back by the possibility of reprieve, approached with hope in his eyes. Richmond's next words, however, dashed that hope.
"Give me the keys to the car," Richmond commanded.
