Samson would warn me if someone was coming. I could take Aurora up to the cave, and hide there for now. I played with Aurora while she was in her more energetic state. She would play for most of the time she was awake, and then pass out so hard that it was near impossible to wake her up. I thought it was cute when she fell asleep.
She'd go completely limp, and roll around limply whenever I picked her up to bring her back to the cave safely. Life was rarely kind or convenient for anyone. I knew I didn't know much about what would happen in the future. For now my plan was to leave the town. The question was, where would I leave the town to go?
I'd need to go somewhere off planet. That was for sure. The settlements off planet were loosely monitored at best. You could get away with a lot out there. I planned to do just that.
Go out there, and get away with a lot. Problem was getting off the planet. I needed some sort of connections to get out of town. It would be helpful to get ahold of Goliath again. I clenched my jaw at the thought of what happened with the humans when they found out what I was.
I was public enemy number one. At least my human face was. They were keeping my real face off the net completely right now. Only the the black websites had the video of what actually happened. No one believed the video was actually real, and those that did wouldn't admit it.
My wings twitched as I thought about it.
"Wyatt," Samson yelled, "Something on the radar is coming toward the island."
I grabbed Aurora, and jumped the wall. I waited outside the wall for the other three. Ethan, and Savannah came running, but Jax was dragging his feet a bit. I gave Aurora to Ethan, and grabbed Jax up with my mouth. Rushing toward the cave at my top speed.
Jax was terrified. I didn't slow down to ease his mind. He didn't need babied. I'd put him down soon enough. I had to slow down at the top of the hill to make the turn into the mouth of the cavern.
I set them down once we reached the main cavern. Aurora had woken up, and thought it was some kind of game. I didn't know what was happening outside, but I had earned the wolves loyalty. I had my teeth clenched shut, and seriousness vibrated through my entire being. Aurora playing was the one thing off about the whole situation.
Barely a week old, and she was capable of running circles around any normal human. She was always smiling. Her happy disposition made the whole room seem brighter. She kept tugging on Ethan's pant leg to get him to play with her, but Ethan couldn't see her very well to play with her like she wanted. Which reminded me that I needed to start a fire so they could all see.
It only took a half a breath of fire to light the wood I had in the fire pit. Aurora froze at the sight of the flames. Then ran to hide behind my leg. Apparently she didn't like fire. I picked her up gently, and handed her off to Ethan.
I wanted to investigate who had come to the island. I glanced at Ethan. Running my idea by him first so I could get his approval first. Ethan didn't argue. Savannah agreed with my idea.
I took on an appearance similar to a few of the other wolves in the town, and walked out of the cavern. I was glad the wolves had managed to finish some of the mana clothing I wanted. The pants looked like jeans, and the top was a tight tank top. Both were black, and they added to the muscular appearance that the wolves all had. Enhancing it so that I looked like a part time body builder.
I preferred the lean muscle of my human form, and not this over built human meat shield type of body. As soon as I was clear of the cave, and sure there was no one around I ran down to the town. Slipping through one of the many gates we'd made into the walls we'd built. I could have cheated my way through with a little earth magic, but all the wolves knew my scent by now so there was no need to sneak around. They also knew that I could change my face.
There was no need for me identify myself since they could tell who I was by scent. I walked into the town without hesitation, and the wolves let me through with just as little hesitation. I spotted the shuttle from up the hill. The heat of the engines made it shine like a star in the night. I know that it's kind of an odd comparison to make during the day, but it was the most accurate comparison I could think of.
I felt a phantom wing twitch when I saw the two that had come down to check on the wolves. One I didn't recognize. The other I knew quite well. I smirked slightly at the thought. It was good to see him again.
Samson shook Goliath's hand with a smile, and welcomed him back. He looked over the other guy suspiciously. He was a tall man. Nearly as tall as Goliath, but he didn't have the same friendly demeanor. His disdain for the wolves showed on his face.
I pushed to the front of the crowd, and they let me through willingly. Samson looked at me suspiciously for a second before he caught a whiff, and his suspicion vanished. He looked at the other guy briefly. Alerting me to what I already knew just by looking at him. The tall skinny guy in front of me was a complete jackass, and would cause trouble if we gave him the opportunity.
