The Alpha On Campus

Everyone has that one person who makes them uncomfortable. That guy when he walks in a room you can feel the energy shift. A constant string of different girls under his arm, never really caring about much of anyone but himself. Two years I spent avoiding him, making sure he never knew I even existed. Even though we’re apart of the pack, a few families like mine weren’t able to talk to our wolves. Not ranking in a society built on levels can really take it out of you, so being in the same room as them is nevertheless difficult.. Who knew that all of that avoiding would eventually bring me here to this moment. Striding towards me was that same guy, dripping blood on the floor as he walked. "Mate.." he said sliding out the chair on the other side of the table plopping down into it. His face had splattered blood all across it, causing his piercing emerald eyes to shine bright against the red. I wanted to run.

The Link

I kept running trying to get the scene of the rouge's body out of my mind. Fallon was just happy to be out, she could handle seeing the violence. I on the other hand just wished I could let go of the memory.

"You're going to be a Luna. You need to be stronger." Fallon said annoyed with my behavior, but not going to miss a chance to be set free after so many years asleep.

I knew she was right but I just stayed quiet, just letting her roam the woods. She wanted to go back to see him but she knew it would be best if she didn't take us, so she headed in one direction and did not stop. She kept walking until I spotted the back of the large pack house. I groaned not knowing why she would bring us here until Luna Serena rushed out the doors carrying what looked like a robe.

"Come now honey it's okay." she said as I shifted back falling into the plush robe.

She led me to the house and into what looked like her personal study. I wondered why Fallon would bring me here, or even how she knew I was coming. But once I got into her office I felt a sense of relief. She eyed me cautiously trying to read me before they glazed over briefly. She looked like she was weighing her next words heavily.

"Are you okay, I was told what happened at the school." she walked over to me, her hand resting on my shoulder. When I did not speak she continued. "You know, my mother was a Luna. She told me when the next Luna from her pack emerged she could feel it. I never believed her, really. Until you walked in the room holding James." she smiled wearily.

I looked at her finally realizing what she had meant yesterday and why she was smiling so bright at me. She had known Finn and I were mates, and even knowing my family's status she took me in with open arms. How could this woman have raised the same monster who smiled while ripping another persons throat out. She had the same smile but it faded to something more sad. I wondered what she was thinking.

"Finn really is a good kid," she flashed a look at me to make sure I was listening, "he is just... misguided in his want to protect the pack. I think your just the one to help him find his path." She sighed looking up at the ceiling.

"He just seems so powerful," I paused letting my head drop. " I... I just met my wolf. Who am I to stand next to him?" I let my words trail off into the silence only to be met with a sharp laugh. My eyes snapped up to the Luna trying to understand why she would laugh at my pain.

"I know how you feel. Your mother and I we're both from the same small pack many years ago. When I met Henry I was the same as you. Freshly a she-wolf barely knowing my power." She paused. "You should really ask your mother about your home pack."

"We came from the southern pack, we lived there my whole life." I said looking at her questioningly.

"No sweet thing, your mother's original pack. There are more than just two, not as many now but at one time there were many." she said almost wistfully. " Now I suppose you would like to get back to class? Or would you prefer to go home?"

"I really can not miss to much and I already missed my first and second class coming over, I should at least make it to my last one." I said looking down at the robe that I was wearing. "But I uh.. I don't have any clothes." I could feel my face grow red from embarrassment.

"Oh I can fix that right up!" she said cheerfully, she must have been mind linking with someone because she was quiet for a moment before someone came in handing me a whole knew outfit. She pointed to a small door to the side of the room which turned out to be a bathroom.

The clothes she had given me fit just right. It was a black turtle neck the hugged my curves with a pair of skinny jeans and black boots. I have to admit, the woman's got style. I left the bathroom and walked out to find her sitting at her desk going over paperwork.

"I knew it, a perfect fit!" she squeaked and started leading me to the front door. " I called for a car to take you, Finn is going to drop your pack off that you left in the field." she said as I slightly flinched.

"Okay." I said for the first time feeling brave enough to face him.

"Thank you Luna, I really appreciate this." The nice black car was out front before we even reached the front door the.

"Don't sweat it kid. Your going to be great. And call me Serena love" she smiled closing the door of the car for me, waving as we set back off to school.

The driver drove fast back to the campus, I could see he was in a rush to get me back but for why I was not sure. I stayed quiet as we pulled up to the building my next class was held in. How did they know my schedule? I decided not to bother simply because I could feel Serena's hand in this. The driver parked the car at the curb and said a quick we're here before gesturing for me to go. I couldn't understand why he was acting so strange towards me.

I got out the car just as the classes were changing. A few people going to the lot looked at me as if I had three heads. I ignored them just trying to get to my class. The driver drove here so fast I had plenty of time to spare. I could feel Fallon stir but she didn't say why. I saw exactly why as I rounded the next corner.

I saw Finn with a girl wrapped over his arm talking to his goonies. I couldn't help but be furious, Fallon was trying to gain control wanting very much to get her off of him. I could tell if she did I'd become the exact type of person I feared him to be. Maybe the moon goddess knew me better than I knew myself. In this moment there was nothing more I wanted than to let her do such that. Instead I gathered myself, fixing my hair and giving myself a once over in my cell phone's camera. Once satisfied I let out one last sigh, squared my shoulders and strutted over to where they were standing.

"My bag please." My voice was cold and detached, only staring at the pretty girl with the brown hair wrapped around his arm. They all looked at me like I was crazy, Finn just stared at me. I was sure he was not use to people talking to him like this.

"Get lost loser, can't you see were talking here." she spat at me, the venom in her voice stinging my already hurt pride. She grabbed him tighter trying to assert her dominance. "And I don't see a bag around here any where." she said rolling her eyes.

"Ha as if she could intimidate me." Fallon snipped, I could feel her growl starting in my chest.

"My bag now." my voice came out low and powerful. I could feel my eyes going from black to brown as I fought to control my wolf's rage and jealousy.

His goonies looked from one another slowly ending on Finn's face. I looked at him to see he was just quiet, fury rolling off of him in waves. It pissed me off that the one time I was able to talk to him he wouldn't even respond. I literally just watched him kill another person this morning. After a moment he shrugged the girls arm off of him and turned to me angrily.

"And just who do you think your talking to Daliah." He layered the alpha command deep into his voice. For the first time ever I did not cower and I did not run. I just squared my shoulders and met his eyes.

"You Finn Tate. Serena said my bag would be with you. I see your busy with.." I peaked around him to look at the girl who was now just standing there with her mouth wide open at my defiance and casual mention of the Luna. "other things, and I'd like to get on with my day." I finished just in time to see his face full of rage.

For a moment I felt the fear in me grow seeing his face like that but I stood my ground. He knew we were mates yet he allowed some floozy to hang on his arm. A loud growl came from his chest, then he looked at me with a quick and unrecognizable look. Scooping me up and putting me over his shoulder he walked away from them. I could hear them all gasp when he picked me up.

"Put me down!" I screamed as his speed increased. I couldn't help but let my resolve falter feeling his strength.

"Shut up." he sighed putting me down roughly in one of the desks. I barely noticed we had entered a building, his speed was so fast even in human form.

I crossed my arms and sat there, not exactly sure what he would do next. He just walked to the back of the room pulling out my bag and coming to stand in front of me.

"Don't ever think it is okay to talk to me like that again. Especially around other pack members. I am the next Alpha." He scowled throwing my bag in my lap.

"Yes, young Alpha." I said bowing my head a little ashamed of myself. I really did just act like a child but I was not about to admit that to him. He just looked at me laughing slightly. I could feel the air starting to get tense almost like an electricity in the air between us. I looked up to meet his eyes, my heart skipped a beat and my breath hitched. He was so handsome, like my very own Adonis. He saw where my thoughts had turned and set his jaw line turning away.

"Next time wait for me to bring it to you." He walked out the room leaving it feeling even more empty than I could've imagine. The mate bond must be strengthening, I know I've started being less afraid of him but it takes the two of us to strengthen it. I just stared at the door after him.

"I knew he liked us." Fallon excitedly perked up at this thought. I rolled my eyes getting up and heading to my class.

The class went by fairly fast, but I could barely pay attention to anything the professor was saying. All I could think about was the rouge and the sight of seeing another on his arm. My emotions were all over the place. The changes from finally becoming one with my wolf, finding my mate, the fear. I've been in constant confusion since my birthday.

When it was finally over I grabbed my bag and headed towards the parking lot. Val was waiting for me by my car. I could tell she was worried. I'm sure she had heard of this mornings events by someone or other. She was fidgeting with her nails trying to look casual but failing terribly.

"I'm fine Val." I said pulling her out of her nervousness.

"Oh thank Goddess." she sighed, lowering her voice and leaning towards me "I heard the young alpha killed a rouge and some poor girl. I thought it might have been you." her voice grew somber at the last part.

"No but the rouge almost got me," her face contorted into something that resembled anger but much more.

"I would have taken care of him if I was there." she said protectively. I just laughed and turned to start my car up.

Just as I turned back to her, I see Finn with a different girl than earlier under his arm. His two friends on either side of him. My heart broke seeing her reach up to touch his face where a small 5 o'clock shadow was starting to form. He tenderly took her hand off of his face and kissed it. My knees faltered causing me to grab on to my car door for support.

Val turned to look at what I was seeing and immediately grabbed me and pulled me into a hug, turning me so I couldn't see him any longer. I started to shake but holding my tears in. I would not let him see me cry. Fallon was howling for me to go over there and tear her off of our mate. All I could do is lean on Val hoping he would just leave. After some time she finally spoke.

"Okay.. he is gone honey." she pulled back to look me in my eyes. She looked so sad for me but there was something else there too.

"Why?" was all I could manage in a small voice. She frowned and pulled me back into another hug.

"Who knows why boys do what boys do." she said.

I let go and gave her a halfheartedly smile. I knew he had an endless list of different girls but really two different she-wolfs in one day. My heart started pound causing my hands to fly up and try to hold it in. Val just looked at me sadly not sure how to help me. At this point I didn't think any one could help me.

"Lets go grab a drink." I said causing her to perk up just a little. She gracefully went to the other side of my car and hoped in.

We drove right into the city not bothering to stop at any of the pack bars but went to the one on the very edge of the lands that was owned by some humans. It was small and had very few customers when we arrived. We grabbed our drinks and sat at the farthest corner table we could find. Sitting there in silence for a while we just sipped our drinks. The low country music the only sound in the bar besides the cook in the small kitchen.

I was thinking about Finn and the new girl on his arm, then about the rouge and being covered in his blood. I shivered at the thought. I didn't notice the few men who sat at the bar come in but when I got a scent off of them I froze. They were humans but they had a faint smell I could not forget. The smell of death so familiar to what I smelt just this morning.

I looked at Val who was adamantly on her phone. I stared at her trying to get her attention but she was engulfed in her task of searching for something. Before I knew it I felt a invisible wall fall between us.

"Val we need to go, don't look up." I said to her through my mind. She stayed focused on her phone but her fingers stopped moving.

"What's wrong? Wait since when can you link to me?!" she sounded scared but happy at the same time.

"Since now I guess? The men at the bar they smell like rouges but their human." I said causing her to throw a swift look in their direction.

"Dali, do you smell it? They have silver on them." she said, as she did I finally smelt it the burning metallic smell. Almost as if it was already burning me.

"Tell your dad, if something happens the pack has to be prepared." I said to her now searching for a new way out. I spotted an exit right next to the kitchen and bathroom. Perfect.

"Follow my lead." I say to her through the link and led her to the back and once out of sight of the men we took off running for the car.
