The "King's" Attendant In The Apocalypse

A sudden invasion of malevolent energy began to infect the bodies of creatures residing on the planet Earth. However, those who have a slight resistance to this energy are now given the opportunity to achieve things beyond their wildest dreams. Everette, a plain old university student with somewhat above average looks, is given a strange dilemma. {"Ding! Great King?"} {"Would you like to pledge your undying loyalty to this individual?”} *** ... “So you're telling me, that I have the choice of serving someone like her...?” “A candidate to become a Great King? SHE'S NOT EVEN A DUDE! HOW CAN SHE BECOME A KING!? AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY POSSESSIVE?!” Together with his “totally not yandere-ish” best friend (that is also his master) they will come to learn to learn and adapt to the apocalypse. Perhaps their relationship with one another may turn into more than friends... === Hello! I'm new to this whole writing thing so feedback is appreciated.

A spear whistled through the air before embedding itself into an infected bee.

{"Ding! Level 5 Infected Bee killed!"}

Everette walked up to its corpse before pulling back his spear. He gave it a thoughtful stare:

'It's not bad for a throwing weapon.'

With Mourn now replacing it as his primary weapon, he wanted to find some other use for it.

He glimpsed back to see his group. Almost everyone was about or near the soldier stage, so everyone decided to form groups.

At first, he pondered about creating a group with Ada and the others but decided against it because he wouldn't be able to get as many levels with them.

His group consisted of the few people he helped level up. It was Jason, Liam and Leyla.

Of course, he used his ability to check their potential.

Unfortunately, other than Leyla, he couldn't find any more people with a potential of B or higher. So, he picked the ones he was slightly more familiar with.

Currently, Jason was carrying all of the corpses using rope to tie them onto his back.

"What levels are you guys at now?"

They all looked up at him before responding in a casual tone.

"I'm at level 14," Jason responded as he tied the bee Everette had just killed onto his back.

"Same here!" followed by Liam, who was wiping his knife.

"15," Leyla stated nonchalantly.

Everette nodded before facing forward and continuing. 'It has been a few days since we retrieved the girls from the dorm.'

Subsequently, after thinking that, he decided to take a short skim through his stats.

A satisfied smile spread across his face, 'I can get another ability if I want to now.'

After having a little chat with Eden, he found out that after every 20 wisdom points, he was able to store another skill.

He was also pretty happy about increasing his Mana control. Over the past few days, he has focused on trying to increase his mastery of it.

'I should probably allocate my stat points soon—' A sound of a hiss broke his inner monologue.

"SsSsSs"

"Hm?" Everette unconsciously twisted his head beside him to see a pretty big snake in an alleyway looking at him. His face paled.

Everette hated snakes more than anyone in the world.

Its scales were dark green with a mix of black. Some kind of liquid can be seen streaming down the side of its mouth.

The snake then pounced towards him with its mouth wide open and its fang out in the open.

Everette drew his sword and swiped it towards it while simultaneously sidestepping out of the way. The blade thrummed with mana. A long gash appeared on the bottom of its head.

Missing its target, it dived into the ground head-first. The snake then began thrashing about due to its wound before being beheaded by Everette.

{"Ding! Level 8 Infected Snake killed!"}

"Woof Woof."

"I hate snakes too, buddy."

Everette did a sharp swing to launch the blood away before looking towards the mana core of his sword.

He took a step back and analysed the snake. It was about 10ft long and also 3-4ft wide.

He looked towards Jason with an expectant look.

"... I don't think I can carry that on my own."

Everette sighed in disappointment before grabbing one end of the snake.

"We probably have enough for a feast. Let's head back."

Jason walked over and grabbed the other end. All four of them then returned back to the Chapel.

They returned back to find all the others had already returned too.

Jack begins to cook the kills that everyone brings back.

Setting down the snake to the side, Everette went to find Ada. He found her on the other side of the Chapel with a group of people.

Ada noticed his arrival and waved to him, "Yo! How was your hunt, Everette?"

He smiled and nodded, "Not too bad. Yours?"

Ada shrugged, "There's been a decrease in my area, but I was able to find some good stuff." She gestured towards a familiar large metal with multiple windows on the side and front, albeit a little cracked. It had a second floor in which one of the windshield had a large, cracked hole in it.

Everette tilted his head before getting closer to get a good look.

"A bus?!" He yelled in surprise. Afterwards, he looked beside it to see another one.

Ada nodded before holding up a key and shaking it.

"And they still work!"

His mouth widens open, "H-how did you even get those here?"

"Oh, someone in my group used to be a bus driver for a bit. Of course, they gave up on that and became an instructor."

Everette raised a brow, "Does that mean you went back and forth to get them both here?"

Ada sighed before nodding, "Yep... But it wasn't that far. Getting it here was also kind of fun, too." She pointed to multiple dents and blood stains on it.

"I see... We should come back to the front of the Chapel now. I believe Jack is probably done roasting by now."

Ada's stomach then growled as soon as he said that. Patting her stomach, she exclaimed:

"Definitely! I'm starving!"
