The "King's" Attendant In The Apocalypse

A sudden invasion of malevolent energy began to infect the bodies of creatures residing on the planet Earth. However, those who have a slight resistance to this energy are now given the opportunity to achieve things beyond their wildest dreams. Everette, a plain old university student with somewhat above average looks, is given a strange dilemma. {"Ding! A target for the class [Royal Candidate] has been detected!”} *** { "Name": "Ada Ambrose" } { "Potential": "A+" } {"Analysis": "A possessive tomboy with the potential to become a... Great King?"} {"Would you like to pledge your undying loyalty to this individual?”} *** ... “So you're telling me, that I have the choice of serving someone like her...?” “A candidate to become a Great King? SHE'S NOT EVEN A DUDE! HOW CAN SHE BECOME A KING!? AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY POSSESSIVE?!” Together with his “totally not yandere-ish” best friend (that is also his master) they will come to learn to learn and adapt to the apocalypse. Perhaps their relationship with one another may turn into more than friends... === Hello! I'm new to this whole writing thing so feedback is appreciated.

"Small" Horde

Yawn

"Hm?" Everette looked to the side to see Ada with a bored expression on her face.

"You bored?"

She responded with a nod before stretching her back and releasing a moan.

"How can I not be? Other than that beetle, nothing interesting happened."

'She's not wrong.' Everette internally agreed before staring out the window. Vibrations from the bus bumping into things resounded through the inside of the vehicle.

"What do you think the chances are the next thing we see is a horde of infected?"

She shrugged, "Pretty high, I think." Soon after saying that, she leaned her head onto his shoulder.

Just as her head landed on his shoulder, the bus came to a stop.

"We have a little issue here!"

"Tsk..." Ada quietly clicked her tongue in frustration before getting up.

The four of them strode to the front of the bus and peered out. Grey hands could be seen scratching at the window and the door. A horde numbering a few dozen could be seen crowding around the large red vehicle.

"Did I jinx it?" Everette muttered, followed by a nod from Ada.

"I think you did."

Everette sighed before materialising his sword. Ada did the same with her flail.

Just as Jack and Amelia were about to get ready to fight, Ada stopped them, "Let us handle this one, you two."

Amelia showed signs of concern, "Are you sure—"

"Sure, do call us if you need help." Jack sat back down on one of the empty chairs.

Ada and Everette nodded before getting ready to plough through the group of infected humans crowding around the exit.

"On the count of 3, Everette."

He nodded and got ready.

"Three..." Everette's muscles tense in excitement.

"Two..." Ada crouched low. She focused all her strength on her legs.

"One..." The doors to the bus began to slide open.

"GO...!" The two simultaneously shouted out before making a dash outside.

Meanwhile, on the bus...

"Why did you just let them go out on their own?!"

Amelia glared at Jack, who was relaxing back in his seat.

"They'll be fine..." He stared out the window. He watched how Everette used his sword to decapitate many before moving on.

"After all! If we can't trust our comrades, how can we trust ourselves to stay safe?"

***

Everette sprinted through the crowd. Each swing of his sword left trails of a blue aura.

His sword cleaved through each infected like butter.

An infected came from behind and lunged towards him. Just as he was about to turn around and kill it - A head attached to an awfully long spine erupted out of nowhere and connected with the ambushing infected's head.

An explosion consisting of blood mixed with black, along with splinters of its skull and brain matter, occurred.

The flail retracted to its wielder's hand before being swung again. Ada whipped her flail toward a group of 3 infected humans before her.

Her attacks always end up hitting more than one in a large cone.

"Isn't this fun, Everette?!"

She yelled out to her partner, who also yelled back in response:

"I think we have a different perspective on the word fun!"

Everette lunged forward and plunged his sword into the skull of another infected before jumping to another one.

'But this is definitely better than sitting around!'

Decapitating another, he caught the head and chucked it at another before dashing towards it.

The head knocked it off balance before feeling a sword plunge into its chest. The same sword began moving up its body before dissecting it in half.

He then saw Ada from the corner of his eye - grappling onto a nearby light poll before falling and shaping her hand into a fist. Her fist connected with a infected's head - causing its skull to collapse.

The two carried on this killing spree until there were none left. They both hung their arm around the other's shoulder while panting deeply.

"We're quite dirty." Ada chuckled as she glanced towards hers and Everette's clothes.

Everette sighed before nodding in agreement, "We have to find some new clothes in some store later."

They both entered the bus and were greeted by the three who stayed in it. Ada conversed with the driver and Amelia. Jack pointed at Everette's stained figure before keeling over due to laughter.

"PAHAHAHA!"

Everette's veins began to pop out.

"Grrr... COME HERE YOU!" He then began to chase Jack on the bus.

The bus started up again. Hopefully, they can arrive at Trinity before anything wrong can happen...
