Dhvani voluntarily accepted the task of being a system. For a small chance to be reincarnated again, she aspires to level up and complete her task as soon as possible. Ajay has everything. He is happy, and successful but inexplicably bound to a system that chatters in his mind. The system wants him to do tasks so it can level up and again, do more tasks. From being frustrated to enjoying, he changes gradually. But can he do something for her that he would never want to? And will she really want to unbind when she remembers something from the distant forgotten past? ____________ A snippet from an upcoming chapter : Dhvani stood in the endless white of the Memory Ocean waiting for his answer. He looked at her for a long time and ruthlessly rejected her. "We were never meant to meet. You should remember your duties as well." He left her there and he never saw her again. Did he regret his parting words? Yes. But can he change anything? He hoped so. ____________ A request to readers: Please tell me how you feel about the story in the comments so I can improve my writing. Thank you for reading! Dhvani spent most of her time laughing and watching Ajay trying to make a new spell. There is something funny about seeing a guy get hit by his own magic and become a clown. His first spell was exactly that. She didn't know where it could be used but Ajay decided on a spell that would change anyone into a clown. The clothes would change and the nose will become red. But his half-baked attempts successfully turned him into a full-fledged clown. This stunt happened for many days which made the spirits think he was working a part-time job as a clown. Ajay had also lied that he was making costumes for his new game and that he tried the makeup himself.
His spell started wearing off on the fifth day. So it had great durability. But it wasn't complete. He hadn't made it reverse. How could you not reverse it? He did only half part of the spell-making. If he did some other kinds of spells that the system algorithm likes or even Dhvani liked, he could get the system task reward.
Dhvani wanted the reverse spell because this spell could be used for pranks and maybe changing your appearance but five days was a lot of time. He had controlled the spell for five days so if he could control it for a few seconds, it would be complete in her opinion. Maybe some slight changes could change the attire of some other job. Not a particularly useful spell but it was pretty much sneaky.
If kids could do this spell, there would be hell unleashed. But the modified spell could get you to look good even when you are wearing normal clothes. You could change it to any new fashion dress you want. But this all depends on the fact that Ajay succeeded. Till then she could see his jokes and laugh heartily.
But these shenanigans did not stop Ajay from reporting to the supernatural institute. He had to go there once a week. An easy job and he also got paid. He had to invest first but he still got a salary, right? And he was working for the government. He was very happy about this fact.
The institute was busy as usual. He saw this for the first time. The training bases were different according to their applications. There were magic training, body training, and mind training. He was interested in all of these. But he had to have some achievements. Each group had some points awarded when they performed tasks. And Ajay only performed a preliminary mission so he couldn't enter the base. He reluctantly left the area.
"Are you new here?" A voice sounded. Ajay immediately turned back. A tall, lanky guy was leaning against a pillar. Ajay found it suspicious that he didn't find him while he was walking. The institute was a large building and it was divided into many areas. Walking from one area to another would make you complete your steps for the day.
Dhvani found the guy was very sneaky or had the magic to disguise him.
She was right.
"Yes, I'm Ajay."
He put his hand forward and the tall guy readily shook it. His hands were icy cold but Ajay didn't show any reaction which satisfied the guy. He had long hair, shoulder length exactly and his cheeks were red and white, maybe from the cold. He didn't wear any warm clothes but he came in a long-sleeved shirt and jeans. His blue eyes were cold but Ajay didn't know if he was friendly or not in reality. He would find it out later. His features made him look calm and composed.
"I'm Ashrit. I'm also new here. How about I take you with me?"
"Sure."Ajay would really like that. He was somewhat getting off the track and walking on this place.
He and Ashrit became quick friends. Ashrit was the kind of guy who gave you a sunny feeling despite his cold-looking appearance. And they kept talking about their first mission. Ajay lied very well about it.
Ashrit didn't seem to mind and told his experience. He narrated it well and Ajay felt like he was with Ashrit in his experience. Some people had the gift of storytelling.
They finally reached their destination. The auditorium was empty and it seemed like they were the first ones to arrive. The first ones to arrive had a good chance to choose their seats. So they sat in the middle rows. They chatted about magic spells and Ajay shared his own problems with creating one.
"You could try making each layer with a link to another layer. That way the time limit problem could be under the limit. Then you can work on other specifics."
Ajay felt that his suggestion was good so he took a paper from his pocket and wrote on it. He felt that papers like this really came in handy. The institute did not allow any external electronic objects so he could not even bring his watch. His watch had the best features. He had managed to use it to play some games.
He had not yet released this game because the watch was still in its testing stage. The watch screen could be projected on some surface and the game controls were on the watch. He played it when he traveled to any place. So he was very disappointed that he couldn't bring his watch. Maybe his new friend would like it.
The room was filled with people gradually and finally, when it was time to start the introductory class of the institute, the five golden boys sauntered in. Ajay was very surprised because they didn't tell him. Maybe because this stuff was secretive. And Garv was dragging a sleepy Akash. Those cousins were crazy anyway and they should have gotten themselves in trouble.
Manav. the ever-observant one, spotted Ajay first. He waved to him and his movement caught the attention of everyone else. Ajay who never was shy blushed. Dhvani cackled when she imagined Ajay dealing with the eyes of everyone else. Manav also realized what his actions had done so he quickly came and talked to Ajay.
"We normally sit at the back. You could join us. You can bring your friend too," he said smiling at Ashrit.
Ashrit seemed shocked, his calm and composed look was absent and Ajay didn't understand why. He asked Ashrit his opinion with his eyes. Ashrit also nodded and they went to the back. The back seats were very comfortable because they had more space. And it seemed a world like its own.
Ajay introduced Ashrit to everyone and they all welcomed him warmly. Ashrit also got out of his shell and made a talk with all of them. They talked about their anecdotes in the magic institute. The major contributors were of course Garv and Akash but Hiten also chimed in from time to time. No one here batted an eye seeing an international star. So they were used to it. But Ashrit was very star-eyed when talking to Hiten.
"You will find that he is goofier than his serious look in his movies. Then your star chasing will come to an end, dear friend," Garv added, not leaving a moment to comment on Hiten.
"I like you from when you were a child actor," Ashrit added.
"Can we take a photo after we go out? My sister will be thrilled."
"Sure, how old is she?" Hiten asked.
"She is your age, twenty-five."
"So your sister is also my fan?"Hiten asked quite proudly.
"No. She hates you to be honest. But I like you. It will make her angry that I have your picture while she does not have one with her idol."
Everyone laughed at Hiten's deflated experience.
The instructor appeared at the right time so they couldn't hear Hiten's comeback.
"Welcome new recruits. This is our monthly gathering. I will tell you about our recent activities. And newbies who are interested in joining any groups, contact me after you talk with the existing team leaders. Let's start the presentation first."
The presentations were always boring. But they had to listen anyway. What seemed like a three-hour presentation ended after one hour. It mostly focused on the tasks completed and future tasks. Every report of the completed tasks and relevant information was shown. As the instructor left, Ajay took a deep breath. He felt like he returned to his school days. His adoptive father had also given him such long lessons.
His sighs were interrupted by a discordant voice.
"You found yourself recruits very fast, Vihar. Are you going to break your five-member rule finally? Maybe if you do, you can participate and lose the championship this year," an arrogant voice sounded.
The voice matched the person. He had a high-spirited look with small brown eyes and colored blue hair. Ajay never saw a blue-haired person because he only had contact with pink-haired people. Strawberry blonde was also very popular. But only a few can look awesome as this guy. He looked very cool in his attire. Ajay gave him ten points.
"We will see. Let's go everyone," Vihar told them and both Ajay and Ashrit followed him. They didn't need to get involved in the fights of seniors.
Dhvani watched the pseudo-fight and waited for them to punch each other. Seeing that they went their own ways, she was very disappointed. Everyone here was very polite and they did not have any illegal fights. She thought Ajay would get bullied or something so she was on high alert. But here it was all rainbows and flowers.
She then stopped listening to their activities and concentrated on searching for more information about spells. She felt that she had no work rather than being a system. She should also cultivate a hobby and become proficient in something. She shouldn't waste time sitting in this space. So she started an introductory course of magic learning for spirits. She was one too, right?
The course first asked her to feel magic and then see which was the more resonating one to her soul. Then she could try to improve in that area first. But she wasn't exactly in a place where she could find a magical aura. She was once again at a dead end. She brainstormed again so she could work on this problem. If she knew that Ajay had a magical training area on his side of the mall, wouldn't she be green with envy?
She then looked for something she could learn without a magical aura. She found one thing at last. She could do the cleaning job. Like when the auras were depleted, a form of magic can replenish them. Or rather, it could create conditions so the magical energy would gather again. She could learn this. It just depends on your soul power. The stronger the soul power, the stronger your aura calling ability. And soul power could only be strengthened if you could improve your mind. She had to meditate to feel her soul which was very hard. Communicating with your soul is like finding a correct wire in a tangle of all wires where a wire could be woven in the tangle.
But Dhvani didn't hesitate. She concentrated on her soul and tried to find peace. It could be brought only by the sky element. The sky element is unlike any other element. It is both creation and destruction. But hers was more inclined to the destruction part. She had to absorb the destruction part and strengthen her soul power.
She just had to sense the sky element within her. It is present everywhere and unlike other elements, it is precisely our own self. It is not external but internal. She finally found a medium level between her soul and the sky element. She managed to communicate with her soul and her sky element broke through the limits. It would be astonishing for any sky element users if they were there. Because no one practiced the other part of the element. Hell, they didn't even know that this element had another part.
Dhvani calmly meditated and her soul seemed to be suspended in the air. She rose from where she was sitting and her state became ethereal. Her boss would be impressed because only those who had blessings or guidance from gods could do this. He was also taught this by his master. This exercise was lost because only gods seemed to know how it worked but Dhvani managed to find it on her own.
Maybe her boss Shourya would then be doubtful about her real identity. But he did not see so this question was no longer valid.
