We all gathered in a random abandoned classroom. Normally, we would meet in the Room of Requirements but with Daphne's betrayal the Room is compromised. Ironically, the classroom had a nicely sized round table for us. I glance at those attending and feel confident that we could take Daphne in a head on fight. I haven't stopped training and it shows, my strength could easily best any fourth year and even some fifth years. Everyone else is just a step below me, not including Draco. Blaise sitting to my right, has become deadly with his combinations and his biggest flaw is his stamina. Millicent has worked like a dog in the Room of Requirements. She may noy have any finesse but she more than maes up for it in brute force. Draco while not having much in the terms of power, his finesse and strtegy make him more than a match for most on this room, except me of course.
"Welcome everyone to the second War meeting, as you can see we have a new member joining us, Now i know that everyone here has some bad blood between them, well get over it!" I shout the last part making everyone jump. "We are dangerously close to losing any kind of power in Slytherin, and potentially losing our lives as well. This Daphne is an unknown, we don't know anything about her or how far she's willing to go for her goals, and that makes her terrifying. Frankly, we need any allies we can get."
Everyone grudgingly nodded at that. The Daphne everyone came to know had turned out to be nothing more than a mask.
"Before we start, I need to make it clear, do not provoke Daphne!" I say gazing at each person in the room. They hesitantly nod and I say, "We can not afford to fight them yet. Once we recover Draco's wand, we can start attacking. We'll pick the stragglers off and put them in the hospital with hit and run tactics. We will discuss this more when we are ready to start."
"Now first order of business, we need to get Draco a wand since Daphne took his. I've already sent an owl home to Lord Black requesting use of one of the Black Family wands. Usually, would be an impossible favor to ask but considering the current circumstance I'm hoping he'll make an exception. Hopefully it won't come to that and we can steal Draco's wand back." Everyone nods at that, and Dracos voice drawls out, "And just how do you plan to do that?"
Blaise glares at him for being so disrespectful while we're doing him such a big favor. I chuckle and say, "Well dear brother, my answer is quite simple. It's a secret!"
Draco scowled at that and said, "If you aren't going to tell us anything, then what's the point of even having these meetings?"
"Calm down brother, the way I'm going to do it involves a secret of a friend, I can't betray their confidence." I placate him. Draco still looks miffed but let's it go and I continue, "And while I can't guarantee that I'll be able to get your wand back, I would dare say I'm your best chance. So just sit back and let me do my thing and I'll try to bring you you're wand."
Millie spoke up next, "What do you want me to do? I can't stay in the Room of Requirements with Daphne knowing about it and I can't go back to my dorm rooms anymore."
This was the one issue I had a problem solving. There were no good choices here and I don't see any other solution other than her getting a resort. I bring it to the table, "Anyone got an idea?"
We tossed some ideas back and forth but we couldn't figure out a place for Millie to stay. Then, the door spring open. We all pointed out wands at the intruder before I let out a sigh of relief.
"Hello Luna, you almost got hexed something fierce." I smile seeing the sweet blond skipping in the room without a care in the world.
"Oh, you wouldn't have hexed me Ares. I had faith." She said in a dreamy tone. She sat down directly on top of the table with her legs crossed saying, "How's the war council going?"
Everyone did a double take as she said that, I choked for a second before saying, "Luna, how on Earth did you know about that?"
"Was I not supposed to know that?" She said with a tilt of her head, "It's rather obvious with the tension going on at mealtimes and with Daphne's new group of friends. I came to see if I could help."
Draco looked like he's trying to catch flies with how wide his mouth is gaping. Blaise and Millicent could only shake their heads at the strange girl. They had built up a tolerance of sorts to her weird ways.
I snort at the effect she has on others and say, "Since you know already it's fine. Right now we are trying to find a place for Millie to stay since she can't stay in the same room as Daphne anymore."
"She can stay with me!" Luna said with a bright expression. She really looked excited at the prospect of having someone stay with her.
I sigh and say, "As much as I'm sure she would enjoy staying in the Ravenclaw dorms, I don't think that the prefects will allow it."
"Oh, I don't stay in the Ravenclaw dorms anymore, I got tired of them destroying and stealing my things so I'm staying in the kitchens with the elves." She cheerfully said and then turned to Millie and whispered conspiratorially, "And don't worry I made sure to hang some charms to keep away the Nargles."
A furious anger surged through me at the thought of Luna's treatment. I took some calming breaths and thought for a second. Wasn't Luna still having her things stolen in the original series in Harry's fifth year? If she's so well hidden then how did they do it. Then it came to me, they didn't find her, Professor Flitwick must have made her return to the dorms.
"Well, it's not ideal, but it's the best out of any of our ideas. This is the safest we can make you." I say with a sigh. I need to do something about Luna's situation when I have some time. I refuse to allow the bullying of the original series to occur again.
"Is there anything else that anyone wants to bring up," I say rubbing my temples at everything that need to be done. No one speaks up and I end the meeting saying, "Then meeting adjourned, you have your instructions. Be careful, stay in groups, don't go out by yourself and tell me if you notice anything suspicious."
They file out leaving me alone. The coming days will be hard, but I'll do everything I can to give us a fighting chance. The second I lose the protection of being a Prince, it'll be open season.
I shiver at the thought before heading to my bed to sleep of my worries. The next morning was October 31st and I was completely caught off-guard. I've been so busy handling these matters that I didn't even think about the basilisk attacks that'll soon start happening.
Classes pass by slowly, knowing that a Basilisk was on the loose currently wasn't a comforting thought. The last class ends and the dinner feast starts. The Golden trio are of course missing, so I set off to meet them at Nick's Deathday party. The moment I walk in I froze. Sitting next to Ron was another redhead that shouldn't be their.
"Hey Ares, what are you doing here?" Harry asked curiously. I ignore him, having not even heard him as my eyes were glued to the anomaly sitting across from him.
Harry follows my eyes and says, "Oh, I guess you haven't met her officially yet! This is Ron's sister Ginny Weasley."
I automatically go through the proper greeting expected of me and say a bit forced, "Pleasure to meet you Ginny, my name is Ares Black."
I calm my racing emotions and think. Ginny being here is both good and bad. It's good because the basilisk shouldn't be able to attack anyone now, but it's bad because I now have no idea where Tom's horcrux is now. I turn back to Harry deciding to just get on with why I was here and say, "Can I talk to you in private?"
Harry shrugs and follows me out. Before I could even open my mouth, Harry says something that sends a shot of pure terror down my spine, "Hey who's that talking."
I speak up in barely a whisper, "What is it saying…"
"Kill…Rip….Tear?" Harry says in a confused tone.
My anxiety shoots through the roof as my worst fear surges out. Someone else is being controlled by the horcrux and I don't know who it is or what they'll do.
