Suddenly, the abandoned cars on the road started to look shiny in Malachi's eyes.
It felt like they were the true definition of diamonds in the rough, and all he had to do was unearth them. Perhaps "loot" was a better term.
The more Malachi thought of syphoning the fuel in the tanks of the abandoned cars around him, the more he felt his idea was a good one.
It did not take long for him to want to put it into practice.
The first thing he did was tap David's lap to wake him.
"Huh?" David muttered in a sleepy tone as he slowly opened his eyes.
Malachi did not rush him and waited for him to be fully conscious or at least conscious enough to hear him and understand what he had to say.
After giving his body a light stretch, David turned to look at his father. His eyes were still a little droopy, but it was obvious he was awake now.
"What's the matter, Dad?" David inquired.
