So, before you read, let me give you a tl;dr with minor spoilers but will help: n chapter three is an info dump explaining the ranks. However, in the chapter, the translator/author says the ranks are distributed by the colors of the rainbow. Yet, The colors in the very same chapter include CYAN and PURPLE. So, incase Mr. Translator/author reads this: The colors of the rainbow are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. Please go back to kindergarden.
Anyway, the true progression in this novel is as follows:
Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Cyan
Blue
Purple
Now, fast forward to chapter 10. His so called ‘desk mate’ in the synopsis (and I presume the cover picture, which mind you the translator has the girl with blond hair, blue eyes, and english name just like everyone else in the novel.) is suspicious of our MC and asks him to use magic to prove his rank - one’s magic is the color of their rank. MC’s magic should be Cyan colored. But, he tricks her with a useless ability he stole (convenient ofc) that changes the color, thus making it red. Then, he acts hurt that she would force him to show his useless magic. (He’s hiding his abilities, what do you expect) Now it gets good fellow readers. This innocent SIXTEEN year old deskmate now feels guilty, asking how he can forgive her for hurting his feelings. MC’s first thought? Literally to and I quote, ‘bed her’. But, he decides to be merciful and forces her to kiss him. Her first kiss, despite him tricking her. He legitimately guilt tripped a 16 year old into a sexual assault. Thank you for reading my review, I hope your brain cells can continue to work, as mine no longer do.
