Second chance at Conquest

The alarm was ringing, his eyelids heavy having only slept 4 hours the night before.

"What !" he exclaimed as memories that were familiar yet foreign flooded his mind.

He had transmigrated to the past, back before the launch of Conquest !

Disbelief was the first thing Noah felt, he had gone back in time with his memories !

His joy only lasted until he remenbered what happened to him in Conquest, he had toiled for years hoping to one day make it but was denied time and time again by the same guild just because of a petty grudge.

For a simple grudge they had made his life a living hell.

He had transmigrated following the fall of a comet in the Baviere kingdom where he was, he died instantly but rather than respawning at the closest church he woke up having transmigrated back in time.

He remenbered that today was the day Conquest released and he had to get a helmet today or risk starting behind the rest of the players.

The game was called Conquest and had been under heavy media attention for the last 3 weeks because of what it meant to humanity as a whole.

A game that you could play in your sleep, that seemed completely real and was to be a second world for humanity.

Today the 7th of october 2067 was the day the helmets would be made available to purchase and tha Conquest would release.

It was 6 in the morning, a cold morning in France. Noah tried hard to remenber how he bought his first helmet and recalled he had one reserved at a small grocery store that was allocated a dozen helmets.The owner was a guy he knew and that had agreed to reserve Noah one of the two advanced helmets for 50 New European credits.

The basic helmet was priced at 750 NE credits which was slightly under minimum wage. Noah knew that the basic helmet came with a plethora of small issues that included nausea and headaches following its use. His second option was the normal helmet but it also had shortcomings as could only stay in-game for the duration of their sleep. It was priced at 1000 NE credits which made it interesting as it didn't casue nearly as much issues as the basic one. Noah chose the advanced helmet priced at 1350 as it could allow its user to stay in game for extended periods of time, not anything as insane as a pod which could allow a user to stay connected for 72 hours but around 14 hours.

What made Conquest truly special was the combat system. Players that knew martial arts could dismantle players that didn't as it wasn't sufficient to have strenght you had to know how to use it.

Noah went out of his rented apartment and towards the store, it only took him a minute to come in sight of the little grocery store. The store was situated on the corner of two streets and didn't even have a name. The store owner called for Noah to claim his helmet the second he entered.

"Noah! I have your helmet!" the store owner called out.

Noah, paid for the advanced helmet using his voice and got the helmet straigh from the hands of the store owner.

While walking back to his apartment thousands of thoughts kept circling in his head of how he would take revenge on those that had wronged him. He was considering through which quests he could build an early advantage and settled on a series of quests that were revealed 3 years into the game and the reward of which was a special plot of land north of a major city called dresdne.

He also had to consider which class he should take as he knew the quests that would give special classes, he was a spearman in his previous life and was limited by his class and the constant oppression to tier 3 and never being good enough to reach tier 4.

Noah stopped considering his options as he got ready to enter the game. He put the helmet on his head and calmed hismelf down. He could feel himself floating, until his feets touched the ground and he got into the character edition screen. In this game you couldn't change your sex which was what every gamer cried about on the forums for a week.

Noah considering his options decided to change his face a bit, just enough to make himself harder to recognize. He also had the options to make himself taller but decided against as he knew that it would mess with his senses in the long run. The last option was where to spawn, he could only chose between a few places as the game would only allow you to spawn at certain places depending on where you lived. This was only limited to the start of the game as later when players would get access to the teleporting arrays in major cities they would be able to travel everywhere for a certain price.
