(21) A letter from the past

Kirei's POV

I woke up to birds chirping and the sun shining through my window 'I fell asleep, although this time it wasn't half bad.....Strange' bit grungy-eyed. And got a whiff of smoke? Maybe....Wait! I don't remember cooking anything last night! I rushed downstairs. I was expecting the kitchen on fire or something of the matter, but instead, I found "Sasuke!" I ran up and tackled him. He glanced back at me "your back! How did you do? did you make it?" I asked excitedly. "I missed you so," I exclaimed

"you don't need to worry, Ki-ki," he said reassuringly, glancing down at me then pulled away from the hug. I was slightly confused at first. I tilted my head curiously. "Is something wrong? did I do something wrong? Please, I didn't mean to." I cried dramatically

"hn?...no, I'm just in a hurry. I need to train for the next round," he said with slight sweat forming.

"so that means you and your team passed, that's great!" I exclaimed

"hn. I guess," he muttered.

"you guess you should be happy! I knew you passed because your super awesome," I exclaimed with tiny stars in my eyes. I saw a hint of pink before he quickly turned around, trying to hide his faint blush. Quickly shaking it off, he then started to get his bag and head out. "Foods in the fridge, and I made you some fresh breakfast. It's on the counter, and I left some money on the counter also if you want to eat out later." he explained before heading out to 'who-knows-where to train.

"Okay, Nii-chan," I waved him off. "I love you."

"I love you too, imotō," he said, walking out the door

UCHIHA ESTATE

Later in the day, the sun started to set, and Sasuke wasn't back, which wasn't as bothersome as I first thought it would be.

Later I took a dark-colored hooded cloak and placed it over my deep purple kimono snuck into the mold compound at the edge of town '. God, Sasuke would kill me if he found out. Is this the place where it happened? Is that why he hates this place and forbade me coming here?' I question myself as I walk through the deserted compound. It was somewhat creepy, like a ghost town of sorts.

Kireina slightly shook my body from the tense atmosphere that filled the air.

I finally got to the most prominent house in the center of the estate "this must be it" I hesitantly entered and noticed that the house was covered in a thick layer of dust and cobwebs in the nook and carny. I saw several photos of what looks to be a younger Sasuke and a younger me, and that older boy must be our older brother Itachi.

I kept walking and found what looked to be a master bedroom. 'They must have some answers in here' I walked in and started to dig through the room.

I eventually found a box of stuff that looks important. I blew away the dust and cobwebs from it and started to look through the boxes and find several scrolls. She opens one and begins to read:

Dear our beautiful children,

As you found this letter, maybe we have already gone from this world, leaving you behind, but please, don't ever let the sadness overcome your love for us. We love you so much and want you to have a good life with us in it and live them to the fullest. Please understand that we will always love you and support you on any path you may take in the future.

To Sasuke,

Please take care of your little sister; she'll need you to be there to support her on everything she is doing in her life and give her the love that we could not give her when she's growing up.

and to kireina,

we always are there for you even at your lowest low, and for every achievement you accomplish, you may not remember us so vividly as you were still young when we were gone. You look just like your mother; I'm sure you will be a beautiful and strong woman like her when you grow up.

Tonight , we will pay for our questionable choice, but it was our choice to go out. All we want is to protect you and make sure you have a brighter future, both of you. Please remember this. We always will be proud of you two.

After I was finished, I was teary-eyed, crying uncontrollably as I was lost for words 'I can't believe it-why did they?...what choices?' I thought, questions and what-ifs filling my mind

I dug through the box even further and found a picture put it and letter in my ninja pouch I was wearing beneath the plum kimono and kept digging when I found another scroll and unrolled it, and by the looks of it, it seems to be some summoning scroll 'I always wanted a summon' I though with glee

'hn?! what was it again? Boar → Dog → Bird → Monkey → Ram' I do the hand signs and then feel a tingle then 'poof' I find myself in the middle of somewhere rocky and instead of the dark blue night sky the color a bright pink gradient "Where am I?" I muttered
