Chapter 101

Sure he had almost smacked a man's face down the table after the crazy man had made a big deal about his dessert arriving late and his wife's dessert arriving early, and he had barked at a girl for leering at him, but at least no one had died and he had swallowed his frustration. Pretty well if anyone asked him. 

He stretched and relaxed on the wooden chair outside in the backyard. It was pretty late into the night but he had wanted to carve a bit before he slept. His work in progress sat on the carving table, half of it looked like a girl's ruddy face that somehow reminded him of his mother. 

I miss her. 

He shook himself out of the reverie and stuffed down the rest of his cake. He shouldn't miss her. She had dumped him off and jumped on a plane. She didn't deserve his emotions. He'd rather think about how many more treats he would get when next he went to work. 

His phone blared an alarm, it was 10:30 pm.
