High Queen's Interruption

"And this is the Mage that you guys will be facing soon enough. Fabian Brookes, the Mage that claimed Mavislin saved his life a few years ago. Other than that, we've got absolutely no record of him, so I'm still drawing a blank what are his powers," explained Z, enlarging the image.

"I'll do another quick scan for anyone closely resembling this guy using the archives by Gillian since he's the oldest out of all of us. If this doesn't work, then I'm sorry to say I can't you anymore."

In total, there were two things that I needed Z to figure out for me. One was the picture of the guy dropping currency onto a guy's palm, and the other was the audio file of Vernice and someone else having a chat. The image was done by the computer that controlled the desk.

Now it was time for audio, but a kick from a strong person broke down the door. Again, according to how Z reacted to his room door being smashed down.

"For God's sake, man! Stop destroying doors already. You've broken a year's worth of doors in under a month! Can't you see I'm a bit busy here?! Will it kill you to knock?!" shouted Z, without looking from the readings of the table.

I was still hyper-focused on the system, trying to find it as Z scolded the mysterious door breaker. Bryan was the only one to slap our shoulders to look at the person standing at the door.

"What was that for?! Can't I be angry at the person who broke down my door again?!" yelled Z, staring at Bryan.

"Unless the person who has been breaking down doors is a pregnant Bahamut that looks like she's going to eat all three of us alive," replied Bryan, pointing towards the doorway.

Z's face went pale as he slowly turned to look at the High Queen holding her abdomen. Without thinking, I quickly rushed to Ysabeau and supported her to the bed. Z snapped back and went towards the two of us.

"Why are you here? I thought Gillian was with you. Where did he go?" asked Z, trying to get Ysabeau to lie down.

The High Queen didn't look too overly pregnant, but then again, she's not human. But I could tell she was sweating buckets for some reason.

"He went to look for Rina right after he left me to rest. I was alright for an hour until something kept happening. I'm sweating because I'm nervous. After all, I don't know what's going on in my womb. It feels wrong and confusing," replied Ysabeau, before shaking her head in dismay.

The poor woman tried to turn but halted before remaining on her back. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the baby bump that well since Ysabeau's clothes were quite baggy.

"But shouldn't you have gone to Baldwin first? The Angry Man was a father, you know. I think he is better than me in terms of maternity care because I haven't got a woman beside me for a very long time," questioned Z, trying his best to do a scan on the expecting mother.

"Aww... I thought you were getting laid just the other day..." teased Bryan while nudging the Galaxian Mage.

"I'm going to lay you to rest if you don't back away from me now."

The bed looked like a hospital bed with holographic screens popping out to detail about Ysabeau's statistics. Her blood pressure was slightly higher than average, standard for a pregnant lady. I glanced at her Elemental Energy level, which was fluctuating like crazy.

It would appear as if being pregnant as a Mage would affect the Elemental Energy output of the said Mage. Ysabeau's heart was beating like crazy, which seemed to flash up as red on the screens. Her breathing was rapid too. The whole combo was as if she'd run a marathon.

Ysabeau was still holding onto her abdomen as if she was getting contractions. I prayed to whatever God was there in this realm that the next thing I won't be seeing was blood. I glimpsed at her pregnancy stage. It didn't state how many months, much to my confusion.

However, it did show that she was at a very early stage of her pregnancy. Perhaps this system was designed to cater to every being alive in this Universe without telling the number of months of the pregnancy. I don't blame it. I thought it was a good idea for a bed to be interdimensional.

I can't possibly compare a human's pregnancy cycle with a Bahamut's. But some things are still universally agreed upon, like when a person starts breathing heavily using their mouth. One look at her face was enough to tell me what to do.
