Chapter 1Rebirth

A bunch of medical specialists ran across the room and began treating the patient, who happened to be Jonathan Miller's renowned businessman's beloved daughter.

After falling from her residential building, Eveline Miller was hospitalized virtually lifeless with a severe head injury. She lost a lot of blood and was unresponsive to treatment.

While physicians tried to revive Eveline, her soul slowly left her body.

"What is this place?" Eveline murmured as she examined the room before seeing her corpse.

It was then Eveline realized what had happened, and she dashed over to the doctor, who was trying to save her life.

"Please don't give up, doctor. I don't want to die." Eveline cried, pleading with the guy to try, but he was not God and could not revive dead.

'No, I can't die. I can't let them relish my death." Eveline's voice cracked as she remembered her so-called friend throwing her from the balcony while her husband stared at her blankly.

It was then that she realized her husband had been secretly seeing Tiffany, her best friend.

But what devastated her was that they intended to kill her in this way.

Gabriel was her childhood crush, and she always hoped to marry him one day. However, rumors circulated that his heart belonged to someone else.

Eveline assumed it was just a rumour, so she determined to disregard all negative thoughts and pursue Gabriel. She wanted to keep things real and make him fall in love with her, but things went awry when they ended up sleeping together and her father found out.

Jonathan forced Gabriel to take responsibility, and they got married.

Eveline was aware that Gabriel had never believed in the marriage and hated her for everything that occurred. However, he was powerless in front of his father, Richard Winston, who had been Jonathan's childhood buddy and had admired Eveline since she was born.

Although everyone loved her, she most wanted her husband's attention, who neglected her and treated her like an invisible person.

Eveline tried to unlock Gabriel's heart, but when she glimpsed hope, everything fell apart.

After three years of marriage, Eveline got pregnant. Though it happened against Gabriel's choice, she believed that with the arrival of their baby, their relationship would change and that she would eventually win his heart.

However, everything had vanished: her child, her sole hope for survival, and the reason was none other than her husband and his so-called mistress.

Eveline wailed while standing next to her body, watching the light slowly disappear.

If given the chance, she would do everything in her power to avoid reuniting with people who ruined her life and brought her to the edge of death. She planned to live a tranquil life and realize her aspirations.

With tears flowing down her cheeks, she closed her eyes, and everything went black.

….

"Wake up, Young Miss. You are running late to class."

Eveline was startled out of her sleep as a familiar voice reached her chords, and she peered around anxiously until her gaze fell on her nanny, Susan.

Eveline forced herself up onto the bed, unable to articulate her disbelief at her survival.

"Why am I still in my house if I have already died?" she mumbled, perplexing the nanny.

"Are you feeling sick? What are you babbling, young Miss?" Susan swiftly checked Eveline's forehead and startled her with her touch.

Eveline breathed and peered at Susan like a seer.

'What's this? How am I still alive? 'Eveline pondered to herself until Susan's anxious voice jolted her out of her daze.

"I should inform Master about your health." Susan was going to depart when Eveline stopped her.

"I'm OK, Susan. There's nothing wrong with me. It was just a nasty dream that woke me up," Eveline explained out in desperation.

Amidst her confused emotions, she understood she had a rebirth and it could only be that she knew it.

Susan glanced at Eveline with concern, but she eventually trusted her and left the room.

Eveline was still suffering with her mixed thoughts, but now that she had a chance to make amends, she should make an attempt to live a happier life.

Throwing away her comforter, she got out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Eveline took notes on everything before she left, including the year and the course she was taking.

The twenty-year-old version of herself climbed the stairs when she noticed Jonathan reading the newspaper headlines.

Eveline came to a halt as she considered what would have happened to her father if he had discovered her death.

As his only daughter, she was heartbroken by the concept itself.

Everyone knew how much Jonathan adored her, and there was no doubt that he would have suffered following her departure.

"Eve" Jonathan's words jolted her out of her daze, and she dashed towards her father.

"Dad," Eveline clutched Jonathan, concealing his embrace like a cocoon.

She was frightened of never being able to see her father. But she was grateful that God had altered her terrible fate and given her a second chance in life.

"Are you sure everything is okay? Susan told me that you didn't look good." Eveline suddenly snapped out of his hold.

"I assured her that I was fine. It was only the nightmare that got me going." Eveline attempted to disguise her fib before pulling Jonathan to the breakfast table.

"Then why aren't you looking at me?" Jonathan inquired about Eveline's lying, but when she did not react, he let it slip.

Eveline was never allowed to confess to anyone that she had been struck in the head and had just recently awoke from the dead.

Eveline hurriedly finished her meal before leaving the house for Aspen College.

Seeing oneself return to college to obtain a Master's degree in finance was unnerving. Eveline never took advantage of her privilege as Jonathan's daughter, and she worked hard on her studies before entering.

It was unsettling, however, for some who saw her as a threat to their way of life.

Eveline's heart rate increased as the automobile reached the enormous Aspen College gates. She understood that ignoring everyone would be difficult, but she also knew that with enough effort, she could turn a fresh leaf in her life.

The car finally came to a halt in front of the college building, and Eveline stepped out.

"Eve!" Eveline scoffed as she turned her head towards the voice.

'Think of the Devil, and the Devil is here,' she said, smiling as her friend Tiffany approached her.

"Why didn't you come pick me up, Eve? I waited for you at the bus stop," Tiffany grumbled, standing before Eveline.

Tiffany made a habit of riding to college with Eveline because she wanted to appear as an elite who was friends with the most popular girl on campus.

Tiffany was from a middle-class household, and when she enrolled in Aspen, a prominent institution, she sought to make many friends just to be in the spotlight.

Tiffany adores attention, and the day she met Eveline, her fortunes improved. Tiffany, like Eveline, began to be viewed in a new light, and she was no longer regarded as inferior.

Eveline squinted her eyes in confusion as the phone was placed in her face.

"You told me you'd come, so why did you leave me alone?" Tiffany persisted as she had to go by bus and weary herself to get to college.

It had been two years since Eveline offered Tiffany a ride home. She also assisted her in covering her canteen expenses and tuition fees, but she had no idea this charity would be taken for granted and she would soon be paying for it.

"Uh, Tiffany, I'm sorry; I didn't mean to leave you alone, but I forgot to tell you that my car broke down in the middle, so I had to wait for another one to come and pick me up." Eveline lied through her teeth, seeing Tiffany reach.

"Oh, that is true, but you could have told me. I would have waited for you," Tiffany reasoned.

Eveline scoffed at her audacity and produced a pitiful expression.

"I could not think of anything. But isn't it fun to travel by bus again? You must have felt nostalgic; after all, you'd been taking the bus for years." Eveline's eyes gleam with sarcasm as she notices Tiffany's lips twitch at her statement.

"Anyway, you can go to the classroom first; I have something to do before joining you." Eveline excused herself and entered the building without waiting for an answer.

She tried to ignore Tiffany, but it was difficult to abandon her friendship with her so suddenly. So she resolved to take one step at a time.

Eveline was walking into the lobby, deep in contemplation, when she collided with someone and stumbled back.

[#teen #lovequadrangle #historicalromance #romcom #cdrama #sweetromance] EXTRACT: Meili slipped out of her robe and sat on a ledge in the warm pool. Her long black hair cascaded down her back, tiny silver bells tinkled as she moved. It felt wonderful to be free of her chest binding. It was starting to get quite painful. She didn't dare stop wearing it in case it encouraged her already disconcertingly large breasts to keep expanding. It was onto this scene that the Commander, the Prince and the poet happened, as they soundlessly raised their heads above the peaked roofline. For a full minute not one of them moved or breathed. Her long hair covered her generous curves, allowing tantalising glimpses. She reached behind her neck to push back her hair. Commander Bai, realising what was about to happen, clamped each of his hands firmly over the eyes of the Prince and Tan Bowen. A fight broke out on the ridge-line as the men clawed and scratched in a panicked attempt to see what came next. Meili looked up in fright, just as the commander forcefully pushed his two friends, sliding them down the steep rooftop. For just a split second, the eyes of Commander Bai and Meili met.
