I was a reader.....

[ The Third Calamity ]

It was the name of my favourite novel. If you asked me which novel is the best in the world, I would say [The Third Calamity] without any second thoughts. But the other readers didn't think the same, the comment section of the book was full of criticism telling the author how bad the book was.

[The Third Calamity] took place in a world where vast land covered three fourth of the Earth leaving only one-fourth of the area for water bodies. Here humans developed a unique skill of their own at the tender age of 10. Except that humans were born with an affinity towards an element or a certain weapon. Someone born with an affinity towards wind could control the wind easily and someone with an affinity towards a sword could learn the sword easily.

Noah, the main character of [The Third Calamity], is your typical overpowered MC. All the humans in this world have one unique ability and our MC Noah has the ability called Seven Swords Of Heaven, which allows him to summon seven different swords. Each sword has its special ability which gives him control over a specific element of nature. Those seven-element were the wind, water, fire, earth, lighting, light and darkness. In name, it was one ability but was more powerful than ten combined abilities.

But Noah wasn't always this powerful, when he turned 10 years old, he didn't awaken his ability like his peers, so his parents sold him off in the black market because they thought he didn't awaken an ability. The reason why he didn't awaken his ability, was that his body wasn't strong enough to handle that kind of power at the age of 10.

The people in the black market auctioned Noah off, where he was sold to an old man. Noah thought that the old man would torture him and make him work to death. But contrary to his expectations, the old man took care of him as his grandchild. Since Noah didn't awaken an ability, the old man taught him how to wield a sword so that he could protect himself in times of danger.

Everything was coming back on track in Noah's life, he was happy with his new life but when he was 12 years old, the old man was attacked by a demon and lost his life while fighting against it.

Having been betrayed by his parents and then losing the most important person in his life, Noah couldn't take the pain anymore and awakened his ability. When he awakened his ability a huge blast could be seen from miles away. That's how much energy he released when he awakened his ability. This is how Noah became an overpowered protagonist.

--Ray's Pov--

I am a 22-year-old man, who has been reading [ The Third Calamity ] for six years now. I have never been the best in academics, I used to get bullied a lot. This book helps me escape reality for a while, even though it's for a while I feel free in that amount of time. I admire Noah, how he lost everything close to him but still never gave up. I wish I was like him even a little.

[ The Third Calamity ] was nearing its end, it was in its final stages now. I couldn't even dare to imagine how my life will be without reading at least a chapter of it every day. While I was lost in thoughts a truck came and hit me.

'So I died like this, huh.' I thought to myself and released a sigh.

I was just cannon fodder until the end, who people used as a stepping stone to reach new heights. But I don't regret the way I lived my life. The only regret I had in my life was that I wasn't able to read that ending of [ The Third Calamity ]. Even until my last breath I thought about how Noah's journey would come to an end. Sighing I closed my eyes and darkness enveloped me.

When I opened my eyes again, I was floating in a dark space. I wasn't able to see a thing but it felt like some ominous energy was covering my whole body. Suddenly a strong migraine attacked me and I fainted again.

Opening my eyes again, I was in some kind of room, where was l? Did someone save me from the truck or was I taken to hospital and given treatment. So many thoughts were on my mind, but my thoughts came to halt when I heard a robotic voice say something.

[Students of Avalon, You should all be present for the opening ceremony which will take place in the auditorium tomorrow morning.]

Now this scared me, I didn't know where I was and then some robotic voice said something I didn't understand. I had never heard such a voice before, I have heard Siri or Google assistant voice before but they weren't this loud or monotone. Then something clicked in my mind, [Avalon] that's was name of the biggest academy in the human domain in [The Third Calamity]. All the elite students were trained there so they could be strong enough to fight against demons. But Avalon is in [The Third Calamity] novel.

What I saw next, confirmed that I was somehow inside [The Third Calamity] my favourite novel. A blue holographic screen was hovering above my head, which can be only seen by me.

It seems I had cyromancy as my unique skill which is quite strong. Having control over one of the natural elements is powerful, to say the least. I was already getting excited thinking about the scene where I am spamming

ice-boulders left and right and crushing everything in my path.

My rank wasn't the best tho, Noah was already E- Rank at this point and the others were not that far behind him. Compared to them I was lagging by a lot. And I didn't have spear art as well, everyone needs to use an art if they want to be Powerful. Doesn't matter how good you are at using the sword, you can't cut mountains without a unique ability or a sword art.

Suddenly the blue holographic screen changed and now it was showing...

'What the fuck, even the system is looking down on me.' i said to myself in an annoyed voice. Atleast with this I could become strong fast.

'I need to get stronger as soon as possible.' I thought to myself with a helpless look on my face.

This world was a very vicious and brutal world where the strong trample on the weak, and I was definitely on the weaker side for now. Keeping all these thoughts aside, I got up from my bed and went to see myself in the mirror.

I had silvery-white hair, bright red eyes and pale skin. I was definitely on the thinner side of people. It seems like this person's name was also Ray, well I guess I got to keep my name.

I couldn't believe this was what people called average looks in this world. I could have easily been an actor with these looks in my previous life.

While I was thinking about my looks, certain images started entering my mind, in those images, a man was holding a spear and moving it so gracefully that it felt like it came directly out of someone's fantasy. Every move of his was destroying chunks of mountains and his last move destroyed three mountains as if they were nothing.

Having received so much information at once, my brain couldn't handle it and I fainted on the spot.
