Hartley
The only time that Jin had ever used the Thinker abilities for scheming was when he had split the device he had created to awaken Caitlin's meta powers. It was also the only time his scheming had failed.
After testing the device on himself and finding out it didn't work on his powers, he had split it into 2 pieces. One of the pieces he had given to Hartley. Why? Because of its lesser ability. It had the capability to enhance an individual's power. The increment on his own power was minimal but for someone like Hartley having that extra ooomph! Would go a long way. All that was because of a gamble, if Hartley got stronger, he would probably become a headache for Wells.
This would allow Caitlin a measure of freedom because Jin had no doubt she would believe him and start planning on how to take down Wells in case of his absence. She could do without the hawk-like monitoring of Wells. The second reason was to see if Hartley could take down Wells. This was wishful thinking of course and Jin had at one point thought about sticking a miniature bomb to the device incase Hartley failed. One that would react to Wells unique d.n.a. but then he'd weighed the pros and cons and come to the conclusion that Wells would use his speed to escape the blast radius anyway.
When Hartley finally couldn't take it anymore and attacked Wells, it was with a power that if it had been canon, team flash would have been in trouble. Unfortunately for Hartley, Wells had been prepared. After attacking Wells in his home, Hartley was captured by him. Wells knew that the Hartley from the original timeline had not exhibited such strong abilities. His sonic attacks had been enough to send Wells flying and if it wasn't for Hartley's own arrogance, Wells would have had to go all out. As it stood however, Wells won and he found out Hartley's little secret as to how his abilities had gotten stronger.
Being someone who always took advantage of the situation, he used the device Jin had given to Hartley to amp his meta powers, through stabilizing the dosage he had made to increase Barry and his own power. Jin had no way of knowing that that Barry would become power hungry prompting Wells to also want more power. In the end, for Wells at least, things had worked out splendidly.
(Barry)
Barry stepped out of the machine. His body felt suspended in bliss. They weren't in star labs. Dr. Wells had made sure to keep the procedure a secret from Cisco and the others. Why? Because they wouldn't understand. He was the one who was always out there. Fighting to protect the city and they didn't/couldn't fathom how stressfully frustrating it was to lose to a bad guy. Which is why he'd been eager for change.
He looked at his body and gaped in surprise. He was ripped as hell. He traced his fingers along his body. His abs were as hard as steel and his chest was huge. Huger than before at least. He also felt a little bit taller.
"How…you told me that the change wouldn't be this pronounced!"
He exclaimed half in surprise and half in excitement.
"Mmh, yes the change wasn't supposed to be this huge-perhaps it's due to your unique biology?"
"Doesn't matter. This power…I wanna test it."
An alarm started blaring from Barry's smart watch on the table. Dr Wells pulled up an image on one of the screens.
"You're in luck. A fire started downtown."
It took an instant for Barry to be dressed in his suit.
"Time for a test run."
With a crackle of electricity and a zoom the Flash sped out of the lab. Wells looked at the scorch marks left behind on the walls and other sections of the room.
He stood up from his wheel chair and breathed in. His body instantly bulked up slightly and he brought a hand Infront of his eyes. His palm started vibrating at high speed until finally streaks of grey lightning started dancing around it.
"My speed has been increased considerably but I still can't access my time traveling. Otherwise I would have left this god forsaken place long ago. The dosage is semi permanent and I probably don't need the tachyon enhancer. That said, I can't let Allen be my equal. The device that Hartley had was only enough to enhance my abilities…I feel like it's part of a larger piece and maybe once I get the other one, I can combine the two and be able to time travel again. I'll have little use for Allen by then and he'll die a slow death."
He finished his monologue with a sinister smile while looking at the screen with the scene of the burning buildings. The flash had just arrived and Wells was a little intrigued and curious at just how fast Barry had gotten. He pressed a button on the keypad and a section of the wall rose up to reveal the Reverse Flash's suit.
"Let's see how stronger you've become Flash."
All this was happening 2 months into Jin's training regime.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barry quickly made turns as he came upon the huge inferno engulfing the building. The firefighters were already on scene and as he came to stop he realized he'd overshot the distance. His speed was also so great that when he did stop, a gust of wind exploded out of him and ruffled the crowd gathered at the scene. Everyone looked and saw the flash in all his glory. One frantic man looked as if life had been returned to his eyes.
"Please Flash, help my daughter. She is stuck in the third floor!"
Barry didn't need to hear anything else. Boom!
He raced out into the building. The smoke didn't bother him or obstruct his vision. His eyes had gotten unbelievably better and he could see further and clearer than before. His other senses had also been enhanced a lot and he felt as if he could do anything.
It took just a matter of seconds for him to make it to the third floor. Irrespective of the wrecked structures and debris lying about, his balance was so impeccable he didn't delay for a second. He heard a whimper and came across a room that was in flames. The roof of the room had collapsed and blocked it from entry. Normally he would phase through the obstacle but this time he felt like trying something new.
He had been learning a lot from Wells, Cisco and Caitlin about how to apply his speed force energy into not only speed but also strength. That coupled with the strength enhancement from Well's Serum left The flash eager too see just how far he had come.
He placed his fingers on the concrete and was surprised when they dug through, then with a pulling motion he tore off a large section of the obstacle and threw it away. The piece of the roof impacted the wall and broke apart.
"Whaa..."
He tore his eyes from his hands and ran inside. A second later he was on the ground with the little girl. He didn't stick around and went back in to make sure everyone had made it out.
Confirming there was no one else, he started running around the building. He reduced the speed force aura cloaking his body to increase the effect on the air his fast speed had. This resulted in a bigger vacuum that deprived air from around the building. The blaze died down and the people started cheering.
The flash sped off in thought. He was still wondering about how easy it had felt to tear that huge piece off. It had barely been an effort on his part and that had also been while he was still wearing the gravi-bands! What if he turned them off? How strong could he become?
A fist slammed onto his face and he shot off to the street, impacting a car and wrecking it. Apart from a little disoriented and surprised, The fist hadn't hurt him at all.
He crouched and looked at his second most hated foe.
"You..."
"Yes, it's been a long time since I saw you like this Flash. On your knees, beaten before me."
The man's voice grated his nerves but this time instead of feeling fear and nervousness like he did everytime he faced him, there was only determination.
He blitzed forward and threw a fist. There was a satisfying thwack! And the reverse Flash was thrown back. They both entered flash time but this time, there was no more running around, fists were thrown and kicks were blocked. The flash vibrated his hand and tried to spear through the reverse Flash's shoulder to incapacitate him. The Reverse flash twirled around the blow, grabbed the attacking hand and threw the flash to a street light.
The flash phased through and at the last minute used the street sign to hurl himself back at the Reverse flash. He threw a round kick that launched the Reverse flash away from him and into a fire hydrant.
The fire hydrant got wrecked and started spraying water around the street. A crowd was just gathering and The flash knew he needed to get the fight away from them or finish it. He made to go forward but gray lightning started coursing through the reverse flash changing from his red one. Barry's eyes widened under his mask. What was this power...it felt cold to him.
"Stop. Its clear that I can't beat you in my...base form as you'd call it but you're not the only one who's had an upgrade. But fighting with you as you are is pointless. You're like a lint that needs to be sparked. So look here," he held up a hand that had a detonator in it.
"You're a smart man Flash. I think you know what this means."
Before Barry could do anything to stop him, the Reverse flash pressed the detonator. A massive bomb went off in the ocean. A huge tsunami was headed for Central city and the Flash gaped as he saw the utterly humongous wave that was in an imminent collision course with the city he called home. Iris, Joe, Cisco, Caitlin, Dr Wells they were all in danger if he didn't do something.
Just like his mentor would always say to him, .
"Run Barry Run."
This time Barry said it to himself.
