LOG 5: The choice of Three!*

Nuvema Town. Located in the southeastern end of the Unova region, Nuvema Town is a tiny, rural town that's breezy and surrounded by trees. It also overlooks the sea on the southern side (with metal guard rails to prevent anyone from falling and four supporting pillars dug into the sea), and its motto is The Start of Something Big!

Lucario, Gallade, and their trainer, Logan, had recently arrived at the town. Today, they will be visiting a professor in which they've assigned an appointment with. The professor's name is Juniper.

Professor Juniper is a lithe woman with fair skin, green eyes, and poofy honey-colored hair. She wears a pale greenish-blue lab coat and a white blouse, along with a short green skirt and athletic white shoes with red stripes. She also has red rectangular earrings in both of her ears. Her full name is Professor Aurea Juniper.

Though she may be goofy, there are times in which she could be serious, especially when it comes to her role as a professor. One of her main jobs is to give starter Pokemon to new trainers who will be participating in the next Unova Conference and Pokemon League. She also specializes in the origin of Pokemon.

Running like the wind, Logan and his Pokemon passed through the town. He felt the breeze, quite warm and salty. Perhaps this could be the cause of the current season. He gazed at the houses and the cherishing smiles of the people. They greeted him with warmth and kindness while waving back at him.

At the edge of the town is where the laboratory lies. The laboratory of Professor Juniper is larger than any previous laboratories Logan had seen, even bigger than Professor Rowan's laboratory. It has a red bricked roof, having the embodiment of a large barn with numerous windows that could be seen everywhere.

Logan wasted no opportunity of being late. If he was late last time, he'll surely make it this time! Though tired, he kept up the pace, and with all the energy of his legs, he tried to have a race with the breeze while the leaves that fell down the trees cheered for him and his Pokemon.

Entering the laboratory, Logan was greeted with a ton of aides. Mostly females, since the professor is a female, but there were also males. Logan couldn't believe his eyes. It looked exactly like an airport, but of course, smaller. There was a part of it that looked like a museum. One could tell just by looking at the hanging reconstructed fossils of prehistoric Pokemon.

Among the male professors was a man whose attention was caught by Logan. This was no other than the father of the famous professor, Professor Cedric Juniper. Cedric is a slightly old man, who has grey hair and a short beard. Cedric wears a yellow striped shirt, with his sleeves being pulled up a bit and a grey undershirt. Cedric Juniper also wears a dark belt on his brown pants, as well as some grey shoes. Cedric often makes grins and smiles a lot. He is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy.

"So? You're here to claim a starter, young lad?" Professor Cedric walked closer with his cane, He gave the man a grin as he too, grinned back at him.

"Excuse me sir, I was wondering if you could tell me where Professor Juniper is?"

"I'm sorry, little lad. She's not here. If I remember correctly, she went to Accumula Town to do her agendas. You must be Logan? Professor Juniper told me about you, the victor of the Sinnoh Pokemon League? Ha! Ha! I knew it!

Well, sad to say, there's no more starters!" he revealed, continuously laughing.

"N-no more?! Impossible! It's ten in the morning! Who could be here before me?" Logan was flabbergasted.

"Hmm, Professor Juniper is always forgetful. She's my daughter, and she's always forgetting her words. She gave Tepig, Snivy, and Oshawott, to a group of newbies as a present. Their house is somewhere here, but I advise you not to go there! Pfft! Who cares about those three? I can give you a starter, well technically a starter."

"R-really?! You have some spare Poke--"

In a blink of an eye, Cedric was beside the young man, petting both his Lucario and Gallade.

"Are these your partners? They look superb! I've got to say, you're quite the excellent trainer!"

"TH-thanks, sir." his face blushed.

"Now? Where was I? Ah! Of course. Starter Pokemon. Well, they're not Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott, but I can offer something far better. You can choose either from the three!" Cedric tossed three Pokeballs at the sky. It landed, revealing three Pokemon.

The first one was a water and ground.

Tirtouga is a reptilian Pokémon resembling a baby leatherback sea turtle. Its body is blue with black spots on the edges of its flippers. Its black shell has six circular indentations in it. It has a black upper beak and a mask that covers most of its head. It has a light blue patch underneath its eyes.

Tirtouga's shell is very tough, and it can dive down to depths of as much as 1,000 meters. Tirtouga was known to actively hunt for prey to the extent that it would go on land to reach them. Tirtouga lived in the oceans long ago and is now extant only by reviving it from fossils. The people of Alola believe it to be an ancestor of most turtle Pokémon.

The second was a flying and rock. Archen is a small, bipedal creature with mixed reptilian and avian traits. Its large, red head is covered in discernible scales, and its neck has blue and red feathers. Its body is covered in untidy, sallow feathers, and it has blue, clawed wings. It has short, thin legs, and a twig-like tail that bears a diamond-shaped blue feather. It has wide white eyes with black pupils and no irises.

The last was a bug and rock.

Anorith is a greenish-gray, arthropod Pokémon that resembles an anomalocaris. A stalk extends from either side of its head, with large, spherical eyes at the tips. The middle of its head is black with two red, teardrop-shaped markings, and an x-shaped mouth is visible on the underside of its torso. Beneath its head are two large, segmented claws that serve as weapons and are used to capture prey. On each side of its body are four white appendages with red tips. These wing-like projections are used to propel Anorith through the water.

"I'm a professor of ancient Pokemon; therefore, I obtain various fossils! Go ahead, pick one! Hehe, at least you ain't getting a Pokemon with no hands and limbs in the future! Wonder what those three newbies will be choosing." Cedric cackled.

"It's better than none, to say the least. Thanks professor... So, Lucario? Gallade? Who among the three are you willing to take?" Logan left the decision up to the two of them. They each had their own opinion. Lucario pointing at Archen, the other pointing at the blue turtle.

"Huh... I guess this will be a hard decision. Hey? Since the two of you chose something different, I'll be choosing Anorith instead. It's been a long time since I got a bug and rock Pokemon in my team! Anorith will be the perfect one! Right?"

Both gave him an expressionless face.

"Well, hehe. Come on? Look at those adorable irresistible eyes. They're also googly! Professor, I'm taking with Anorith with me!" proclaimed the trainer of glee.

"Absolutely! Here's it's Pokeball. Oh, and don't forget your Unova Pokedex, it's a must! Wait! I almost forgot! You need to have this Xtransceiver. It will help you call people around the globe!" Professor Cedric handed out the requirements one by one.

The Xtransceiver had a similar look to the Poketch, except that it's more advanced. With it, this will give Logan the opportunity to call trainers all around the world in case he needed to. But first, he'll have to sign their numbers.

Everything is set for Logan's grand adventure in the Unova Region! All that is left is to meet his rivals and of course, the top twelve strongest trainers in the region alongside their special typing. A lot is heading his way, as his journey to become a Pokemon Master continues!
