Chapter 6 Anna POV 'Wish'

I swore as a Doctor that I would do anything to save a life.

When John came to tell me about the patient, he came to me because he knew I was a Doctor. I had to agree, he didn't need a lot to convince me.

I agreed and walked towards the 'OR' not after smiling at Mr. Brooks, I can't get mad at him because of his rant earlier, I know better than to.

I can understand how he feels, when your loved one is on the verge of death or even just in pain is like you lose proper reasoning and rationality.

But I was mad anyways, I did have a younger sister that I lost, and he brought back a painful memory for me.

Hours into the operation, the patient started losing blood, and we needed blood, I opted to give mine since we have the same rare blood type, but John immediately refused the idea.

"Dr. John, if we do not transfer blood soon enough she will go from cardiac arrest to a coma"

I spoke up on the verge of tears, this was the same disease my little sister had. I can never let someone die of it so easily when I could do something, if I don't, it will make me similar to the Doctor that treated my sister, he did not do anything.

"Don't let emotions cloud your reasoning Nurse Anna, this is neither the place nor the time for emotions, call the personnel in the blood bank" he said firmly not sparing me a glance

After calling the Doctors in the blood bank we realized there was no similar blood in the blood bank, I sent the nurse to take my place in the operation since I was there as a supporting Doctor to get some units from her brother or Father, but she came back telling us they are not of the same blood group, our last hope was her Dad but results showed he had an alcohol content in his blood.

"I am sorry Dr. John but I have to do this" he shockingly didn't say anything otherwise, he let me do it.

I proceeded with the blood transfusion while continuing the operation we stopped earlier after she lost blood, after 3 units were taken I started to feel my legs ready to give away, I fought it then my eyes gave in and started to feel dizzy, I struggled throughout the operation when the fourth unit was taken, my unsteadiness was obvious, John asked me to sit but we were almost done, there was no reason to sit after the successful operation, as I wanted to walk out of the 'OR' I passed out, the last thing I saw and heard was John carrying me and calling out my name before everything blacked out.

When I woke up I realized I was in a VIP ward, I attempted to stand up but I felt so weak, like there wasn't a single life in me and my head hurt so much, the migraine drug has worn out and both pains were unbearable. I stood up anyways I had to do my follow-up with the patient, that is what a good Doctor will do.

I staggered my way to the ward where she was and saw her sleeping soundly I sighed, I didn't know when I started crying and consoling myself, 'I did it, 'you did it, Anna'. Jas will be proud of me

I didn't want my loud wails to disturb her so I tried walking back to my room but walking was getting more unbearable, every part of my bones are giving out and my head is pounding, I was about to trip when I was caught in warm arms and in a soothing scent different form the hospital scent, I looked up to see the person who made me feel safe and comfortable just in his arms alone...Nicholas Brooks, I must be dreaming but I love this dream I smiled and passed out in his arms.

When I woke up the second time, I decided to calm down before standing up, I needed to boot properly to avoid tripping when I finally stood, It felt so much better, Although I need my drugs and some tonic to boost my blood production, I can feel my loss of blood I looked pale and white like a vampire.

I turned and realized I wasn't the only one in the room the patient was in a bed next to mine, and Nicholas was asleep on the couch with his body size, which must be super uncomfortable.

I remembered the calming scent that brought me in all of a sudden and I tried to remember the face but it was cloudy, I dared to sniff Nicholas and I was right, it was him who carried me it wasn't just a dream, he did.

I heard someone clear out her throat I turned and saw the patient staring suspiciously at me. I straightened my dress and walked up to her.

"How are you feeling," I asked.

"Nancy, you are?" she asked back not answering my question.

"Dr. Anna, how do you feel," I asked again smiling.

"I love your smiles, it makes you look young" I chuckled at her remark.

"You haven't answered my question, Nancy"

"Ohh yeah, I feel good, Thanks" she answered

"I like you" she suddenly spoke up.

"Of course, you do who doesn't love a Nurse?"

"I'll be back soon, okay?? , I need to freshen up"

"Sure, I'll be waiting, my brother also, saw how you almost kissed him."

I turned back immediately, blushing badly, wishing I could disappear "did you see that?"

"Yes, you are blushing badly by the way" she said

"It is not what you think I was trying to get a familiar scent, that's all.

"I see", she gave me that 'I don't believe you look'

"Okay, let's keep this little secret okay, no telling anyone mostly your brother" I persuaded

"Deal, she answered smiling.

"Thank you for not dying Nancy, I said to her honestly.

I waved at her and left the ward immediately before I get swallowed by her cunning gaze. Am I supposed to trust her now...

When I came back in after 3hrs, handsome face Nicholas came into view. I looked away and turned to Nancy, she was smiling widely at me, teenagers are the real deal, and I can finally come to conclusion about that. The look she gave me was weird I wanted to bury myself at that moment.
