The summoning [Sword]

"Hey Matt, did you read the last volume drop from Okina?"

"Yeah, it was perfect. I want to read the next volume already."

"Me too, Okina Bada is the best writer of all time, don't you think?"

"She is definitely on my top ten."

My dear friend Michael was always excited about light novels. As for me, I paid little attention to them. I saw them as a waste of money that I would rather spend on less useless stuff like skins for my characters in Gemshim Impacto. Getting the newest freshest characters was what drove me.

Although I had to admit that I liked to read some novels occasionally, and my previous answer was true, I liked Okina's writing style. It differed from all those dry stories with predictable arcs; you just never knew what she had in mind.

However, my friend Michael liked all light novels; he was a hikikomori. I didn't mind him, though it was not like I was any different from him because I could also classify myself as another useless hikikomori.

If you don't know what a hikikomori is, it's basically a term the Japanese came up with for young adults like me who refuse to work or go to school.

What was I on about again? Oh yeah, my friend Michael. He is a good kid that I had befriended a while back when we first met on my favorite MMO RPG.

He was struggling against a giant dragon, and since he was using a cute girl avatar at the time, I immediately jumped in to save her or, rather, "Him."

We chatted for a long time before we decided to meet, and that was when I, of course, noticed that the cute Zeiki Chan I was dating was actually a boy.

I was pretty bummed out at first, but Michael is actually cute, something you might even call a "Femboy." So he has managed to stick to me like glue. I can't shake him off me, no matter what I do.

It's not like because he is cute and looks like a girl, I feel any attraction to him, but he assumes I do. Gosh! What a dilemma. Anyhow, Since I finished my last volume of The Spidey, I might as well go check out some new video games at the game store near my house.

And that is how I ended up looking through an extensive catalog of games that I was already aware of, uhg there was nothing new. Bland boring. I already played that one; it was too expensive. Was there anything that piqued my interest?

"The Reprise of Wicked Heroes?"

That sounded somewhat interesting. I picked the strange videogame copy, which turned into a book when I did.

"What the?!"

It was the only thing that I thought of it. In my hands was a book. I opened the strange book, and flashy images popped out of the pages. They were describing a world of fantasy.

Eventually, the book narrated the story and personalities of all the other supposed heroes, all of them except for one, the Sword Hero's pages were blank. A strange feeling crossed my mind, and then, just as if I needed more bizarre things to happen, Michael showed up behind me.

"What are you reading there, pal?"

"Oh God! It's you, you scared the crap out of me, Mickey."

"Hahaha, let me see that."

Michael Snatched the book out of my hands and began reading it like it was his.

"Hey, give it back. I haven't finished it yet!"

"Woah, this book has so many fast-paced illustrations; it's a bummer that the Shield Hero's pages are blank."

I didn't catch it at first, but when he gave me the book back, I realized what he had said. Did he say the Shield hero's pages were blank? That wasn't true. Those pages were not empty.

The air around us began to look erie; the store wasn't there anymore as a flash of light emanated from the book.

"Nice prank, Michael. Now give me the antidote to whatever drug you used on me. I don't like this trippy environment."

"I didn't do anything, Matt."

A light enveloped Michael first. He was irradiating in light, and then he began to morph. His shoulders got pushed closer, his hips widened, and his hair grew longer. It looked painful, and he confirmed it with his loud screams that were changing his tone.

"Mike!" I tried to run toward him and pull him out of whatever was changing him, but that same light engulfed me. I wasn't changing at all; instead, I was greeted with a weird message at the forefront of my vision.

[Welcome back, Sword Hero]

Wait, no, wait, this couldn't be happening to me, not right now! My browsing history still needs to be deleted. I had to stop it NOOOOOOO!

I lost my consciousness for who knows how long. All I knew was that I woke up on a strange pedestal, surrounded by people in robes. They looked at me quite happy.

"The summoning ceremony was a success; we got one of the savior Heroes!" "But he is the Sword Hero; should we trust him?" I heard a conspiracy forming around me.

I wasn't even minutes in this world, and people were already judging me based on my appearance? I guess that made sense; I was dressed as a hikikomori, after all.

I looked around for Michael, but he was nowhere to be seen. "Where is the other one you summoned here?!"

"What are you talking about? You're the only one that was summoned." So we were separated? I feared the worst, but after seeing how he was basically morphing into a hot chick, I had to assume that he was given the role of the Shield Hero.

"You mean you didn't summon the Shield Hero?"

"Shield Hero? What is that? Never heard of such a person." Oh no.
