Just as she was dazed, Joanne ran to her and anxiously asked, "Are you all right, Lucille? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Samuel kept a straight face and said nothing, but he scanned his surroundings with some wariness.

Lucille quietly pulled her hand out of Joanne's grasp and indifferently replied, "I'm fine. Why are you here?"

"I saw you getting kidnapped, so I called my brother to come save you!" Joanne explained. She tugged at Samuel's sleeve, and added, "My brother was worried when he heard that you were kidnapped. Right, Samuel?"

Samuel's face darkened and he remained silent.

Joanne was exasperated at how disappointing his actions were. She lowered her voice and said, "Can't you play along, Samuel? You already said you regretted it. I'm helping you now. Aren't you going to take the chance?"

Upon hearing that, Samuel paused for a while and then said, "Yes."

He was admitting it.

Lucille was stunned for a moment, unable to react in time.
