"Why the long face?" My thoughts were interrupted as a voice sounded out almost making me miss my step.

I looked up saw the figure of a young man walking up the steps with a backpack thrown across his shoulders. He looked to be about sixteen years old and was very attractive to the eyes, Short wavy blond hair that was almost strawberry in color with a pair of intelligent blue eyes.

"Just wondering why I have to leave for my classes" I sighed and then smiled at the young man who came up the last step and raised a eyebrow at me.

"Is digital engineering that bad? I would have thought it's easier then regular engineering" He raised his eyebrow with one hand in his pocket and a smirk on his face.

'He's really a handsome guy' I sighed once more shaking my head and decided to give my young friend some advice.

"Daniel when you start college avoid anything that people say is easy it's always a trap" I smiled at him and I could see him thinking about it as he nodded with a serious expression.

"I see I won't go to college then" Daniel said and I froze making him laugh and shake his head.

"Don't worry I'm joking and besides if I don't go to college my mother might kill me" Daniel said with a smile and I couldn't help but agree with his words.

'She is a fierce women' I thought back to the same women who had baked me and Maya a pie and stared at us until we ate all of it.

'Well with such a mother Daniel will definitely grow up right' I looked down at the handsome teen who was three years younger and thought back slightly to when I was his age.

We had met his mother first when we had first moved in and she came over to welcome us, Of course the first conversation we had was basically a rant where Miss Madison told us that the landlord was a lazy piece of garbage that was to stupid to even fix a broken outlet.

Daniel on the other hand was a very unique person who I was also very impressed by, Not only was he handsome but he was smart, Kind and easy to get along with which wasn't the case for many his age. He was a sophomore and went to the high school just down the street from our apartment building.

"That's true" I nodded and patted him on the shoulder before mustering up a serious face.

"Always listen to you mother" I said making Daniel look at me incredulously.

"You sound like a old man" He said making me nod at him giving him a couple more pats with the same serious face.

"I'm a grown adult so some respect kid" I said making Daniels eye twitch.

"Your only three years older then me! Don't call me kid" Daniel shook his head making me laugh slightly as I took my hand off his shoulder.

"Oh by the way is Maya working today?" Daniel asked out of the blue as he looked up at me with a curious gaze.

'This again' I sighed in my head looking down at his bright eyes.

Although Daniel tried to hide it, it was quite easy to see that he had a crush on Maya. It wasn't surprising that such a beautiful girl like Maya had become the crush of any guy and I didn't hold it to heart since he was just a kid. I mean which young boy wouldn't fall for the older gorgeous neighbor girl, In fact I always thought it was kind of funny seeing him try to ask about her with out letting anyone know he liked her.

"Yea she has to work" I nodded and his face brightened up as I looked at my watch before shaking my head and sighing.

"I'm sorry I have to go or I'll be late" He nodded and smiled as I walked past him and gave him a pat on the shoulder.

"I'll see you" I said walking out of the building and I instantly felt the extremely strong windows that blew my hair around.
