Chapter 32: How Much Worse Can It Get?

It could get a lot worse.

“Luna!” I said. “Get back in your domain!”

“But I distracted him, just like you said!” She protested. She said so out loud, using my body, in what would hopefully be the last time I try to give her control ever again. But whether it was my body or not, I still had to fight in order to get it back.

I couldn’t help but feel that, while I was fighting with Luna, I had missed something crucial in the argument between Maxx and his pack mate.

One of the chief things I knew of Maxx thus far was that he was a “pack man”. Less so because I had seen it personally. In reality, his actions showed that he cared for me a heck of a lot more than his pack. And, probably the gross seed inside of him helped him detach from his pack just a bit.

But he had said he liked to follow orders well enough. Else, if he hadn’t actually said it (it was hard to remember with so much going on), it was an impression I got from him pretty strongly.
