chapter seventy nine
as he watched Joan walked in, she was exactly how he dreamt
he was getting married to the woman he had always wanted to marry out of love but today he's marrying her out of a condition.
the wedding ceremony went well and he signed something he made a mistake and not read.
it was a contract which included a clause saying that no matter what happens after the wedding, they will have to stay for two years or at least two months before a divorce can happen and that this decision stands irrevocable until the period stated.
why such clause?
Alice was too late when she heard about the wedding
"you could have invited me you know," she told Nick when it was just the two of them.
he looked at her and apologized
"I am sorry, it was unplanned"
"really? and you married the same woman who put you through hell. come on Nick!!!!"
"sorry but she needed me" Nick said
Nick took Joan to his house and it was a little awkward between them, he took her to his bedroom
" sorry for this, I didn't prepare, I went out of this house unmarried and returned married, how funny is that. I have informed them they will bring your clothes tomorrow. ok good night" he said and ready to leave
"where would you be sleeping"
"in the guest room" he said
"ok"
Nick picked some clothes and was about opening the door, when a hand came wrapping around his, he turned and of course who would it be,. it was just the two of them.
she was so close as she apologized
"Nick, I am sorry for putting you in my mess, I am really sorry,, please forgive me" Joan said
he looked at her and smiled a little
"it's ok, you get some sleep. you had a hard time today, ok good night" he said and left
Joan washed up and as she wore her night wear and sat on the bed, she touched the ring on her finger and started smiling
"he's now my husband" she said as she glance at the room and took notice of everything there
she hugged the pillow and smelled it as she slowly slept off.
Joan woke up early to prepare them something to eat, she loved her new role as his wife, she kept on smiling as she cooked.
Nick woke up to their food
"good morning, come and let's eat"
he sat down and they ate, after that
"I have already prepared your clothes for work and so you can shower now and I will bring it to your room" she said
"huh? Nick was confused. what's with this?
"uhmm Joan, you don't need to do all these for me. I will get us a maid, I never got one because I lived alone but now I will hire one to help out"
"no you don't have to, I enjoy doing this"
"are you sure?"
"yes"
"ok"
Joan smiled
"at least things are going well between us, he doesn't treat me with hate and he seems friendly towards me. you wait Nick, I will make you mine again" she said as she smiled
Nick finished up and ready to go outside to work
"wait for me" Joan said
"where are you going" he asked
"work"
"you just got married, you can stay home for a week before you return back.so rest till then"
"but Even you are going to work"
"that's because I have an urgent meeting"
"but what will I do alone'
"watch movies or better still invite Kimmy over, ok. I ought to go now "
"I will wait for you so come early, I will make you something nice to eat" she said
and Nick smiled
he went to work in Happy mood, doing everything there's to do in order to finish on time.
Joan was happy, she prepared his favorite foods and freshen up and waited for him, she wasn't sure whether he will come or not but she waited.
at last the bell rang, she with excitement opened the door and hugged him with all smiles,
"welcome home hubby" she said still in his embrace.
Nick cleared his throat and she let go
"so, go and change and let's eat"
he did that and after eating, he went to his room. Joan wanted to stop him but she didn't know what excuse to use, so she left him be.
"slowly, slowly Joan, he will come around" she consoled herself as she stared at his door.
"what's going on? why is she behaving that way with me" he wondered
he got lost and smiled remembering the hug and smile on her face when he came
"is she really happy?" he asked
