Avia was set to marry the man of her parent's choice. She didn't love him and hated the idea of spending the rest of her life with him. She prayed for a miracle to happen and save her from marrying him. On the day of the wedding; her ex, a man whose heart she had broken into pieces showed up. He kidnapped her and took her away. She felt grateful to him and was overjoyed when he got married to her because of the love she felt for him. Little did she know that he only married her to get revenge on her for hurting him. Now forced to live as his wife in the same house as his mistress. She couldn't be more hurt. Having to watch him show love and affection to another woman when she was the only one with rights to him broke her heart. Can Avia mend her husband's broken heart and complete their love story? Will her husband's mistress who owns his heart and mind let her snatch him from her? To what ends will the two women go to fight for a man they both believe belongs to them?
Avia stood still in front of the love of her life. Her breath was heavy and slow unlike her heart that was beating very fast. Seeing the one she couldn't get out of her mind standing before made her breathless.
She looked into his eyes, the love she always saw in his eyes were no longer there. His eyes were cold and indifferent. As though he was looking at a stranger and not the one he loved.
She didn't mind his cold eyes though. He had the right to be angry at her for what she had done to him. He had deserved better than what she did to him.
She was just happy that he came back to her despite the way that they parted ways. It went to show how much he loved and cared for her, she had always felt that he could read her mind.
She was thinking of him coming to save her from marrying Nathan and there he was to do just that. He stood before her in full glory looking more handsome than she remembered him to be.
Her heart was filled with joy. Her prayers had been answered and her wish had come true and she couldnt be happier. She smiled, her eyes filled with hally tears, tears of joy from the relief of seeing Joem once again.
She dashed from where she stood anf ran to him. She stopped right before him with little distance between them and held his gaze. The man was unfazed by her coming close to him, he didn't blink or move.
He remained still watching her every move. The dazed Avia wasn't able to notice his hands golden into fist. She looked happy when he came in and when she saw him, she became sad with tears in her eyes.
It made his heart ache. She was not even happy to see him, she truly was the most terrible woman he had ever met. She could have at least faked a happy smile for him but instead she gave him tears.
Avia raised her hand to touch his face to see if he was really there. Before her hand could touch him, he grabbed hold of it. She had lost the right to touch him after what she had to him.
Avia blinked. Him touching her hand proved that he was really there but the force of his hold was too tight. "Ahhh," she let out in pain.
"Joem," she called his name. She leaned her head to the right and gazed at his blue eyes. She could always see the moon in his eyes, in four years that had still not changed.
Her world felt complete. She could get lost in his eyes without any worries, she could have him very close to her as it was meant to be.
Joel moved his hand and turned her around. He forcefully held her hand behind her back, Avia screeched in pain.
She looked ahead and could see his face on the mirror. His eyes were ice cold, he had come back for her but he looked so different and felt like a different person too. Her heart was not ready to accept such an indifferent attitude from him.
Her eyes looked at him pleading for him to show him the eyes of the man she fell in love with. Just once she wanted his warm and loving eyes gaze at her like she was the most beautiful woman in the world.
She saw his other free hand moving up to her face. Her face bloomed with a weak smile at his gesture, she waited for the man to touch her.
Joem brought his hand to her face, he was holding a handkerchief in his hand. As Avia blinked his eyes he pressed the handkerchief to her nose.
Avia didn't even fight him, she didn't struggle against him and let him do as he pleased. She was slowly starting to feel dizzy and her vision was blurry. She was slowly losing consciousness but she didn't mind it.
She was in his arms and she trusted him to do what is best for her. He was the only person who understood her better than she knew herself.
She fell unconscious, he caught her in his arms and lifted her off the ground bridal style. He gazed down at her sleep face. She looked even more beautiful with her eyes closed, with the peaceful expression on her face, she looked like a fairy from a fairytale story.
He couldn't take his eyes off of her. His eyes couldn't move away from her, she was just as he remembered her to be.
A tear fell from his eyes as he gazed at her. She was the person whom he loved more his own life. But she was also the person that hurt him the most in the world. He had never felt more hurt than when she broke his heart into pieces.
*Knock! Knock*
He raised his gaze on hearing the knock on the door. Without an invitation the door swung open. A man in a black attire entered the room.
"Everything is ready. We can leave through the back door unnoticed," the man informed Joem.
Joel nodded his head at him, he held Avia closer to his heart and made the first move. He walked out of the room with her, by the door outside he saw Avia's mother unconscious on the ground.
"Useless fellow, you have no money and you are already dreaming of marrying my daughter," her words sounded in his ear. His face darkened as he stared at her, she had never left a stone unturned to mock him and look down on him.
But now it was his turn. He was going to show the woman and her family the cost of their insults. It was time that they paid the price for their mistakes.
They had tried everything to keep him away from Avia and they had crossed all their limits. They had cost him something that he could never get back and it was time that they get a taste of their medicine.
He walked passed her and carried the bride away. They moved to the back door where a car was waiting for them. He walked out of the mansion without looking back, he went to the car with Avia in his arms.
He carefully set her in the back seat and took the driver's seat. He drove the car away from Avia's house and drove towards the civil affairs.
Today Avia was going to get married just not to the person that she had originally planned. She will marry him and become his wife, he raced on the road uncaring about the troubles he was causing.
He was no longer the man he was in the past. He had earned a name for himself and didn't have to worry about petty things like traffic rules.
He had risen from grass to grace and become the best person everyone envy. The men wants to be him and every woman in the country wants to be with him.
From a nobody to the most important man in the country. He had achieved everything in his life except for his revenge.
He looked at the review mirror, he could see her face through it. Before he used to be floored by the sight of her but in that moment, the only thing he felt was anger boiling through his blood.
He couldn't shake the sight of her sitting before her dressing mirror smiling ear to ear at the thought of marrying another man. He never thought that he would see the day that she would be excited to be tied to someone who wasn't him.
It only went to prove to him that she didn't love him at all. She only cared for herself and used him for her selfish benefits. When she grew tired of using him, she dumped him in the worst way possible.
He parked the car outside the civil affairs office. He got out of the car grabbing a bottle of water with him. He opened the water and poured the contents at her face to wake her up.
Avia was yanked awake by the cold water that hit her face. She gasped from the shock, coming to her senses she looked around. She tried to see where she was by looking around.
"If you are done, get out," Joem uttered coldly.
It was the first thing that he said to her in four years. Hearing his voice she felt a flutter in her heart. She happily sat up and got out of the car. He had saved her from marrying Nathan and for that she was grateful to him.
"We are here to sign our marriage certificate. Let's go," he pulled her by her hand without giving her time to catch her breath. They walked into the office, everywhere Joem passed people bowed their heads to him.
Avia wondered why they were giving him so much attention and why they were bowing to him. But that was not important to her, the most important thing was that he wanted to marry her. They were going to get married.
"The papers are ready," a man came to them running with some papers in his hand. "Just sign here, here and here and she too has to sign and both of you will be married," the man added in one breath.
Joel took his pen and signed the papers where he was instructed and handed the pen and papers to Avia. Avia looked at him, without a second thought she signed the papers. Without even reading them, she signed them agreeing to become his wife.
"Congratulations sir, you are officially married. We will make a copy and send the original marriage certificate to you," the man stated.
Joem held on to the papers. "I will keep it with me. My secretary will send you a copy," he said anf made a turn to return to the car.
'Secretary, is he rich?' Avia thought.
"Let's go home," Joem uttered.
"Wait," Avia finally found her voice. She had not spoken to him in four years and everything happened so fast that she could hardly catch her breath. She was happy but had a lot of questions for him.
They stood in front of the building staring at each other. She was the one who asked him to wait bit couldn't mouth her questions to him. There was so much she wanted to say that she didn't know where to start from.
She just looked at him to her hearts content. His features had become more sharp and alluring. He was so handsome, she was short of words.
"Is it done baby?"
A female voice sounded. Avia and Joem looked in her direction at the same time. Avia couldn't he wrong, the woman before her was the country's top model Beabianca Medina.
"Yes love, I am officially a married man," Joem informed to her. Beabianca walked over to them and wrapped Joem in a tight hug before pressing her lios against his in a kiss.
Avia felt her world collapse around her. Her heart broke into a million pieces, she couldn't understand anything in that moment. Her head was in chaos.
"Let's go home," Beabianca ushered to Joem. The man grabbed Avia's hand and pulled her along with him towards the car with his other hand wrapped around Beabianca's waist.
