After saying his part, Dylan got out of the water and swiftly changed into his wolf form. he shook off the water from his fur and in an instant, he was fully dry.
Nico on the other hand was left in the river completely stunned. He never expected to hear such words. 'family…. Family…. We are family? When….'
In the distance, he could hear Hunter and Issac happily playing around and in his memory, he remembered Kiran Elijah, Darius, and Avery happily chatting.
They were happy. Even when they were on the island, they were not that happy. They were surviving. But now… they were living.
The children were happily playing. Everyone liked it here. Maybe Matt didn't like it. But the others loved it.
'we are home…..'
"Here, come out, don't get sick," Dylan held out his hand.
Nico dazedly took his hand and climbed out of the river. His wet pants clung to his legs and water dripped down his chest.
A cold draft made him shiver slightly.
"oh.. you're cold," Dylan awkwardly took the wet clothes and placed them on his shoulders. "this is wet too. Just adjust for a bit. we will get home,"
"You wear some clothes please…."
"I don't have any clothes," Dylan chuckled.
"But… you can't just go around showing off your pole…" Nico subconsciously glanced at it marveled at its size and looked away. "Take the shirt. You need it more," he wrapped it around his waist and tied the long sleeves behind his back.
he blushingly glanced at his shirt that was tied around his waist. it barely fit his body. most likely the back of the makeshift skirt was… bare.
"My ass is still exposed," he whispered with a bit of mirth in his speech.
"It's a nice ass."
"So, you want me to show it off,"
"Only to me," Nico whispered and firmly tied the shirt. "There. Good, let's go. I have a competition to win," he picked up the gun that was carelessly thrown aside.
He already spotted a few of the elk footprints nearby. If he followed it around, he might be able to find a few elks. "Hey, what is the condition of winning?"
"The one with the heaviest prey wins."
"Only elks?"
"Anything. A few will hunt rabbits and make it up in weight. A few will hunt predators. We have a few brown bears that have migrated around here. It's dangerous for young wolves so the one who hunts the predator wins without any reserve of weight,"
"I see," Nico glanced back with a bright grin. "it's the one I will aim for. After all, I don't wish to lose our bet,"
Dylan's smile faltered a bit. "don't want to go on a date that bad?"
Chuckling Nico did not reply. Inside he was thinking of a way to ask Dylan out on a date after all he was the eldest of the two. It was not proper for Dylan to take all the initiative. If he won, he would definitely ask him for a date.
'Wonder where I can ask him out though. I didn't see any restaurants or take-outs here. This shitty town only had a shitty dinner. Even that is not here. Where shall we go? Shall we take a scenic trek through the forest? Nah, it's too cliché. I have to think if something else special.'
He goggled secretly.
Dylan who was following behind him silently glancing at his back. The water droplets were dripping down one by one down his curved spine into his pants. Just looking at this made his flag pole painfully hard.
He secretly adjusted it in his makeshift shirt tied on his waist and continued walking.
"Did you guys spot the bear somewhere close by?"
"no, a bit north from here. We spotted claw prints and a few footprints."
"Okay," Nico glanced back and suddenly his eyes went down. "You are still standing up huh?"
Dylan hid it with his hand. "it's. given.. you smell good."
"What do I smell like?" Nico playfully glanced back.
"Apple and oranges."
Nico froze. "you're kidding… right?"
"I wish I was," Dylan caught up to him and gently kissed his cheek. "You really smell like apples and oranges. It's such a heavenly scent."
Nico gently pushed him away. "oh…"
