MINE (an elite school trilogy)

On a normal day, Lexine is sent a large wardrobe and a letter telling her she is invited to a new school. She firmly believes it is a scam and refuses to go, not caring of the 'consequences' they had stated in the letter. However, on the day she resumed her normal classes, she is kidnapped and taken to the school. Here she learns that the world she knew was divided into two realms by what is known as a gate. The Headmaster took a risk in inviting her to be part of the academy. If anyone finds out that she is human, she might die in a duel. She agrees to the terms in order to find out the truth about her father. Was he part of this other world that had mystical creatures that were only found in fantasy films? If yes, what creature was he? What led him to get to the other side of the Gate? Lexine has to discover who she is, while rectifying the mistakes that her father made years and years before. Will she be accepted or kicked back to the other side of the gate or will she be killed to keep the secret? *Small excerpt* Lexine held the heavy metal sword tightly in her grip as she breathed heavily. She could feel the skin on her palm had become torn again. Either way, she could not give up now, not when she had come this far. She looked up at Taevlin who was attacking her silently with wave after wave of water. Her job was to cleanly slice the waves of water in half before they hit her body. So far, she had succeeded in hitting none. Taevlin was becoming increasingly irritated with the human. He ran a hand through his ash gray locks, trying to think of a solution. Without a word, he walked up to the human, held her by the hips and pushed down, thereby correcting her posture. Lexine internally frowned, not used to contact with a lot of people. Before she could get a word in, Taevlin had spoken in her mind, 'Plant your legs firmly, else the force of the water will continue to push you back.' She frowned, "I've told you time and again, don't speak in my head like that. It's disturbing." Despite the chastising tone she was using, she followed his instructions and planted her sneaker covered feet ankle deep inside the soil. Taevlin: 'Did she just...' Note: This book does not focus on the love life Lexine will have. Yes she will have a love life, but it is not the whole plotline. The main theme is how she grows as a whole, trying to accept who she is and find out who her father truly was. I would like to hear your guesses on who the love conquests are though. There's a whole new world being introduced, many different species. All characters, despite not being in the main cast, have a storyline. If they are important to the story, the storyline will be explained further. Hope you enjoy the book, and please comment on anything you would like to point out.

ACADEMY UNIFORM

Lexine let Christana into her room and while she was still in her towel. She had been contemplating what she was going to do with her wet hair and had resorted to towel drying it when Christana had knocked. A pair of pants and a shirt like the one Aurinda had given her to wear the other day lay on the bed. It drew less attention to herself. However, when she went to put it on, Christana who had been lounging on the settee that was in her room, spoke up. "It is an official school gathering, you should wear your uniform." Lexine removed from her wardrobe the black clothing she had been informed was her uniform.

She raised it up for Christana to see. "This is it right?"

"The color is not right. You are supposed to be a sylph right? The color of the uniform for the Sylphs is blue." Lexine nodded and pulled the correct color of clothing from her Walking Wardrobe. By now, she had understood how to use the wardrobe. It all came down to whether or not you had ever seen a type of clothing up close. The previous night she had tried to get lingerie from Victoria's Secret runway models but had failed miserably. That meant that the clothes she had seen only on the television or phone were out.

The school uniform consisted of a pair of pants that fit her perfectly and stopped exactly above her ankles. Over her underwear, there was an undershirt she put on followed by a short-sleeved shirt. These were both white. On top of that, she threw on the school's jacket. It was a long-sleeved robe-like jacket that fell to her hips and was tied together by a gold silk sash. The cuffs were gold and a symbol of a dragon, werewolf, a pair of wings, and an arrow all shrowded in darkness was the emblem right above her heart. She was tempted to wear her sneakers but opted for the leather boots she had been given by Aurinda the previous day.

After she was ready, she turned to Christana. Christana was dressed the same as she was, however, her uniform was red with the same gold cuffs. "Have the others left yet?"

"We agreed to leave together, let us depart."

Lexine nodded and followed Christana out the door.

Downstairs, everyone was waiting in the foyer. The boys were dressed in a more masculine version of her uniform, with the sash tying the jacket together being lower than hers. Like Christana, Artin's uniform was a dark red color while Adley and Aurinda's uniform was a dark purple color. Sevin and Cardial's uniform was a golden brown color, Meddy, and Raveer's uniform was green in color, and Taevlin, Desire, and Quira were dressed in blue like she was.

Since different species, it would be easier to differentiate different species. If Sevin was a werewolf, that meant Cardial was a werewolf as well because of their similar colored uniform. Meddy and Raveer were anthropoids, Adley and Aurinda were Shadow beings, Artin and Christana were drakons, and Taevlin, Desire, and Quira were sylphs. This meant it was going to be really simple to differentiate between the different species as long as they were in uniform.

At the bottom of the stairs, Desire walked up to Lexine and smiled. "Since you are a sylph, you are to sit with us. It is the first Academy of the year, all students are expected to sit according to their species." Lexine nodded. She was playing a Sylph to prevent others from figuring out she is human and targeting her weak self.

Artin and Christana walked out of the house and Taevlin was next to walk out. Quira followed after him and Desire pulled her after them. This was the perfect chance for Lexine to ask Taevlin what he had done to her best friend. However, she did not want him to invade her mind with his speaking. "Sigh."

Desire glanced at her. "Did you say something?" Lexine shook her head and smiled at her. Although Desire seemed like those females who would be extremely bitchy, she was actually nice. Not once had she invaded Lexine's mind with the telepathy link they used after Lexine had requested her not to. She had also made her the earring that was dangling on her left ear to help her keep up her ruse as a Sylph. She was very nice. She destroyed the picture of sylphs a certain gray-headed sylph had glued into her mind.

Despite how she did not want him to use that stinking telepathy of his, she needed answers about what she did to Ceeret. Clear answers. Therefore, she was going to put up with the conversation they undoubtedly needed to have about her best friend.

They took another route this time. It was a five-minute walk to a large building that stood alone surrounded by a field of grass. Lexine noticed that there seemed to be a sort of hierarchy as they walked even as housemates.

Behind them were the two werewolves who were followed by the two shadow people. Coming in last were the two anthropoids of their house. Lexine was not sure if it was a coincidence or that was how the hierarchy of this world was, with the drakons sitting at the top of the food chain.

Students were scattered on the field, some seated and others standing. They seemed to be discussing something in small tones. On noticing Lexine and their housemates, they all stood straight. Why were they looking at them like that? "Walk in with your head high Lexine. Even though your energy signature is high, if you cower, you will be squashed like a bug." Desire whispered in Lexine's ear.

Subconsciously, Lexine had moved closer to Desire, her memory reminding her of the previous day. It was then that Lexine noticed that even the usually shy Quira had her head held high. Her thin lips were pulled down in a shallow frown and her lip ring glinted in the morning sunlight.

Lexine followed suit and let go of Desire, reminding herself how she felt back in high school. It was a dog eat dog world there. If you did not firmly place yourself as a person who is not to be messed with, it was likely you would undergo bullying by the 'top dogs'.

From the beginning, Lexine had kept to her own company. Being friends with Ceeret was the only thing that made her slightly popular. Ceeret was, after all, a cheerleader. Guys thought that getting close to Lexine would get them a step closer to Ceeret. Lexine, however, in addition to being lazy, was slightly apathetic. If something did not interest her, she would not make herself a part of it.

Lexine took a deep breath and steeled her resolve. 'If I was able to pass through high school without anyone messing with me, I can do that here as well.'

With her steel resolved, Lexine's lips were pulled down in a frown and she gave a slit-eyed look. Her posture changed and she felt like she was back in high school, where she was the school president. She relaxed her shoulders and let her legs take longer strides.

Desire was slightly shocked at the change in Lexine, from a scared kitty to a lioness it would seem. Lexine pocketed her hands in the school jacket and walked purposefully. She may be a weak human, but she was not going to let anyone trample over her, or else her father would be turning in his grave.

Everyone turned to look at the new student who walked next to the rumored next Sylph mother. Both had raven hair and blue eyes and almost looked like sisters. Although one looked almost apathetic and the other softer spoken but still as fierce. The whispers began. Who was this new sylph they had never seen before?

Desire smiled softly, Lexine had done it perfectly. Her first appearance was fierce making people wary of her. It was spectacular.
